On April 4, Military Hospital 175 coordinated with Operation Walk Chicago (OWC - USA) to perform hip replacement surgery for 50 patients in difficult circumstances and policy patients. Notably, more than 30% of patients assigned to surgery were under 40 years old.
According to Dr. Phan Dinh Mung, Deputy Director of Military Hospital 175, all patients will be screened by international experts and hospital doctors to give appropriate instructions before surgery.

In addition, severe, complicated cases or cases with complications after the first hip replacement will be consulted and the most effective treatment plan will be developed. The program also contributes to improving the professional capacity of doctors, helping patients recover quickly, be discharged early, and improve their quality of life.
This is the fourth time Military Hospital 175 has coordinated with Operation Walk Chicago (OWC - USA) to perform free hip replacement surgery, providing treatment and rehabilitation opportunities for hundreds of disadvantaged patients.
Currently, each hip replacement surgery costs about 80-100 million VND, very high compared to the economic capacity of poor patients and policy patients.
Currently, the number of young patients with femoral head necrosis tends to increase, mainly due to the habit of smoking, drinking alcohol, lack of exercise and abuse of painkillers containing corticosteroids causing osteoporosis and early osteoarthritis.
