2.7 km of Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 2 approved to be delayed to 2026

The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has just issued a decision approving the adjustment of the feasibility study report for the investment project to build the connecting section from Pham Van Dong Street to Go Dua - National Highway 1 intersection, Thu Duc City under the form of public-private partnership (BT contract).

The Ring Road 2 project construction site is being abandoned after a period of "shelving"

This is one of the four unfinished sections of the Ring Road 2 project in Ho Chi Minh City, implemented in the period 2016 - 2023, with a total investment of more than 2,500 billion VND. Started in 2017, the project had to be suspended since June 2020 when it reached more than 40% of the volume. The reason was that 3.84 hectares of land could not be reclaimed, leading to the city and the investor not signing the appendix to adjust the BT contract.

Since November 2020, the investor has submitted 4 proposals to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Planning and Investment to appraise and adjust the project's feasibility study report to serve as a basis for removing barriers so that the project can be restarted.

According to the proposal of the Department of Planning and Investment of Ho Chi Minh City at the end of 2023, the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City has approved the adjustment of the implementation time of the investment project to build the connecting section from Pham Van Dong Street to Go Dua - National Highway 1 intersection to 2026. At the same time, the Department of Transport is assigned to guide and coordinate with the Traffic Department to closely monitor the progress of the adjusted project and the content of cost items in the total investment; prepare the content of the BT contract appendix negotiations as a basis for the investor to implement the project in accordance with regulations.

Van Phu Bac Ai Joint Stock Company (investor) is responsible for coordinating with Thu Duc City People's Committee and relevant agencies to complete site clearance, promptly implement project construction to complete as planned.

After more than 10 years of implementation, Ho Chi Minh City's Ring Road 2 still has 14 km of unfinished road divided into 4 sections corresponding to 4 projects: section from Phu Huu Bridge (District 9) to Hanoi Highway (now Vo Nguyen Giap Street), section from Vo Nguyen Giap to Pham Van Dong Street (Thu Duc), section 3 from Pham Van Dong - Go Dua intersection, National Highway 1 (Thu Duc) and section 4 from National Highway 1A - Nguyen Van Linh.
