During the period 2020 - 2024, 264 leaders and deputies were disciplined for lack of responsibility for corruption, and 73 people were criminally prosecuted for lack of responsibility for corruption.
On December 24, in Hanoi, the Government Inspectorate (GIA) held a national online conference to review 5 years of implementing the Law on Anti-Corruption. GIA Doan Hong Phong chaired the conference.
According to the report of the Government Inspectorate, after 5 years of implementing the Law on Anti-Corruption (AC), the fight against AC in ministries, branches and localities has achieved many positive results.
Over the past 5 years, ministries, branches and localities have inspected 139,208 agencies, organizations and units regarding publicity and transparency, and detected and handled 1,445 agencies, organizations and units that violated regulations.
Conduct inspections of the implementation of the code of conduct of cadres, civil servants and public employees at 117,848 agencies, organizations and units; promptly detect and correct violations and handle 2,906 cadres, civil servants and public employees violating the code of conduct and professional ethics.
Agencies, organizations and units have developed plans and implemented the transfer of positions of people with positions and powers according to the provisions of the Anti-Corruption Law and guiding documents. 235,271 civil servants and public employees have transferred their positions to prevent corruption.
The work of detecting and handling corruption continues to be directed resolutely and strictly, with strong and breakthrough progress; functional agencies have made great efforts and coordinated more closely and systematically to remove difficulties and obstacles.
During the period 2020 - 2024, 2,060,550 people declared their assets and income during the period, with a disclosure rate of over 98%; 37,106 people had their assets and income verified. 147 people were disciplined for violating regulations on asset and income control.
Through the trial of corruption cases, the Courts of First Instance determined that there were 179 cases with 602 defendants who were subject to asset recovery. The Court declared that the total amount of corrupt money and assets to be recovered was 4,572 billion VND.

Speaking at the conference, General Inspector Doan Hong Phong proposed implementing tasks and solutions in anti-corruption work such as: Focusing on perfecting mechanisms, policies, laws in general and laws on anti-corruption in particular.
Organize the synchronous implementation of legal regulations on preventing and combating corruption and negativity, in which, both attach importance to measures to prevent corruption and negativity and be resolute and strict in the fight against corruption in accordance with the direction of the Central Steering Committee on preventing and combating corruption and negativity.
Strengthening coordination between functional agencies on inspection, auditing, investigation, prosecution, and the Court in anti-corruption work.
Promote the role of society in anti-corruption and negative work, linked with anti-corruption; strengthen supervision of the National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels on anti-corruption and negative work.
Strengthen bilateral and multilateral international cooperation to absorb and learn from experiences in anti-corruption work by continuing to maintain relations with countries and agreements that Vietnam has signed and participated in; expand relations with countries that have effectively implemented anti-corruption work, associated with effectively implementing the United Nations Convention against Corruption.
