Speaking to Thanh Nien Newspaper, Ms. Ng., Head of the Parents' Representative Committee of Class 4/3, said that she was one of the parents who let her child stay home from school today due to anxiety and insecurity. "Until this morning, September 30, we have not received any notice from the school that they have temporarily stopped arranging classes with Ms. H., the homeroom teacher of Class 4/3, and assigned another teacher to take her place. We only read all the information through the newspapers. Therefore, we do not know who is teaching our children, so we are worried, so we asked for permission to let our child stay home from school," Ms. Ng. said.

Mr. Le Cong Minh, the school's principal, said that regarding the incident, the school has made a report and sent it to the committee leaders, the education department and relevant authorities.

"The school is still continuing to thoroughly handle the incident. For now, following the direction of the committee and the education department, we have temporarily suspended Ms. H. from her teaching and homeroom duties and will invite a qualified teacher to teach students in class 4/3. At present, we can only provide this information," said Mr. Minh.

Explaining the reason for not informing parents in advance, so that parents can feel secure sending their children to school, Mr. Le Cong Minh said: "Because today is a working day, we can only announce the necessary decision. After our internal meeting, we will inform parents immediately, so that parents can feel secure sending their children to school this afternoon."

Mr. Minh added that there is currently a teacher in class 4/3, and a guest teacher is now at the school. After 9am, this teacher will be in class 4/3. Regarding Ms. H., the school has asked her to write a self-criticism report.

Responding to the reporter's question "There is information that the school leaders covered up for the teacher, what do you say?". Mr. Minh affirmed: "We are not covering up, we are just handling it, asking the parents for time to handle it."

Thanh Nien reporter asked another question: There is information that Ms. H. teaches extra classes outside, does the school know about it and if it is true, how will it handle it? Mr. Minh said: "I just found out. I am checking again, if she violates the regulations, it will be handled according to regulations."

Responding to a parent's complaint that Ms. H. sold instant noodles, sausages, and soft drinks right in the classroom for students to eat while doing their homework, Mr. Le Cong Minh said, "This has been reported, and the department and committee leaders have informed us."

District 1 directs strict handling

Regarding the incident of the teacher "asking for support with a laptop", on the afternoon of September 28, Ms. Mai Thi Hong Hoa, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of District 1, Ho Chi Minh City, said that the district had a meeting with Chuong Duong Primary School and the teacher involved in the incident of "asking for support with a laptop" in the morning of the same day.

Teacher TPH has been suspended from teaching, and all the money she received from parents to buy laptops has been returned to the parents.

District 1 People's Committee has requested the Department of Education and Training to continue monitoring the incident and grasp it more closely, and will inform when there is specific information. According to the leader of District 1 People's Committee, this is just an isolated incident that occurred in the area. District 1 has directed strict handling and directed the school principals to review everything, to prevent similar cases from happening.

Previously, as reported by Thanh Nien Newspaper, according to the feedback of parents of class 4/3, Chuong Duong Primary School, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City, on the day of the parents' meeting on September 14, Ms. H., the homeroom teacher of class 4/3, asked the class to support her with a laptop (notebook - reporter) worth 4 to 5 million, a document printer and 300,000 VND per month to support the nanny. After that, the parents commented that the printer was purchased in grade 3, so they should contact the old homeroom teacher to ask for it back for the class to use.

At noon of the same day, she sent a message to the general zalo group (a group where only the group leader/deputy leader is allowed to send messages - the other parents are only allowed to read) with the following content: "Yes, after the first class of the school year. 29 parents have paid. Currently, I am holding 14,500,000 VND (VND - PV). I gave Ms. BM 300k. I paid the KH fund 500k. I am holding 13,700,000 VND. I bought a laptop, I will let you know the remaining amount. And I would like to have this laptop, please".

Or she took 2 pictures of the laptop and quoted a price of 5.5 million for a gray one and 11 million for a black one. Ms. H. said "I'll take the black one for 11 million to run data quickly - PH will support me with 6 million, I'll pay 5 million. Thank you PH".

On September 16, 2024, she continued to text with the content: "On Saturday, I asked PH to support a laptop for about 5.6 million. And I bought a laptop for 11 million, so I added 5 million. And this laptop is mine. Does PH agree?" Then she created a vote for approval and disapproval for parents to vote on...

When seeing many parents clicking "disagree" or no opinion, she sent a message in the class group: "Up to now, there are 26 people agreeing - 03 parents disagreeing - and 09 parents not commenting. If there are parents who disagree, I will not accept it, parents. I bought it myself and used it myself. I also bought the printer myself, parents. I do not accept anything from parents. I sincerely thank parents."

On September 17, 2024, at around 10:11 a.m., she continued to text with the following content: "Last night and this morning, I received many messages and phone calls from PH begging me to accept the class's support. I would like to make clear my point of view that I will not accept it, PH. And I also do not have to prepare a review outline for the children. I agree with the review lesson and PH will review by himself. Thank you, PH. Okay, PH."

At 10:22 the next day, she texted back: "Last night I had a discussion with the class association's executive committee. Even though I didn't receive support from parents, I still love and teach my children as usual. In the message, I also apologized for not being clear. I didn't prepare the outline, but I still reviewed it for my children before the exam and parents must pay attention and remind their children."

In addition, parents of class 4/3 also raised issues such as students saying that Ms. H. also sells food and drinks such as instant noodles, sausages, and soft drinks in the classroom (eating and drinking while doing homework), and she uses the phone for the wrong purpose...
