Mr. NGO MINH HAI
Of these, 120 soldiers will go to Champasak and Attapeu provinces (Laos). In particular, 2024 marks the 20th anniversary of Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union organizing summer volunteer activities in the Lao People's Democratic Republic.
Mr. Truong Tan Nghiep - commander of Ho Chi Minh City's summer volunteer activities in Laos - informed that the summer volunteer team going to Laos is quite special. The force includes 39 Green Summer soldiers, 22 Pink Vacation soldiers, 24 artists and 35 soldiers from the Ho Chi Minh City Young Doctors Association. Among them, there are 45 doctors and nurses, 5 experts and lecturers participating.
Lasting until June 30, the Ho Chi Minh City summer volunteer team will carry out many activities and projects in Laos. The focus will be on supporting educational development activities, vocational training, career guidance and career guidance. The team will donate computers, bookcases, paint to decorate classrooms, and teach Vietnamese to Lao students...
Along with that, we will organize free medical examinations and medicine distribution for 4,500 overseas Vietnamese and Lao people in difficult circumstances, provide health care guidance, develop medical services, and donate ventilators, blood pressure monitors, wheelchairs, and stretchers.
On this occasion, Cho Ray Hospital (HCMC) and Champasak Provincial Hospital (Laos) will sign a memorandum of understanding to coordinate professional support, guidance and health care for people.
Supporting agricultural development and building civilized urban areas are also traditional and important contents in annual volunteer activities in Laos.
Ho Chi Minh City volunteers will donate seeds, install direct drinking water stations, high-capacity agricultural pumps, and donate and install solar-powered fans and lamps for the people. In particular, three Vietnam-Laos youth friendship houses and 450 social welfare gifts will be given to overseas Vietnamese and disadvantaged people in Laos.
Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union Ngo Minh Hai was present at the departure ceremony and encouraged the soldiers before their departure. Mr. Hai urged each soldier, no matter which volunteer front they participate in, to make every effort to complete the contents and goals set before departure.
Mr. Hai reminded that each soldier needs to be deeply aware of "really safe" for themselves during the volunteer activities. Especially this is the period when there are severe heat waves in Binh Thuan province and neighboring Laos, so we need to pay more attention to maintaining our health. "We will go to new lands, discover many new things, but each of you needs to minimize personal matters, maintain discipline and focus on completing the task, ensuring your own safety" - Mr. Hai advised.
48 volunteer soldiers will be present at Phu Quy island district (Binh Thuan), one of the two island fronts of the Ho Chi Minh City volunteer summer 2024.
Some projects and tasks have been identified to be implemented on the island this year, such as supporting the construction of new rural areas, accompanying young people, disseminating and providing legal advice, examining and providing medical advice for people in difficult circumstances...
