The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development said that the province currently has 133 growing areas (area of 2,892 hectares) waiting for the General Department of Customs of China to approve the granting of area codes for official export.
Up to now, Dak Lak has only 49 durian growing areas granted codes by the General Department of Customs of China, with a total area of 2,186 hectares and an output of about 45,200 tons.
In addition, Dak Lak also has 17 packaging facilities that have been granted codes; 9 facilities are waiting for inspection by the General Administration of Customs of China.

In recent times, the management and supervision of growing area codes in the province has been strengthened, accordingly, the monitoring results of 49/49 durian growing areas all meet the regulations of the importing country. Departments, branches and localities have also proactively implemented many measures to manage the use of growing area codes, such as: propaganda, recommendations; establishing inspection and supervision teams; implementing professional plans to combat and promptly prevent commercial fraud in growing area codes...
The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has requested the Plant Protection Department (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development) to notify the General Administration of Customs of China to continue maintaining the above 49 growing area codes; direct regional quarantine departments to strictly control the use of growing area codes and packaging facilities by organizations and individuals when exporting to limit the fraud of growing area codes and packaging facilities.
At the same time, it is recommended that the Plant Protection Department consider supporting the implementation of export plant quarantine procedures and local customs declaration procedures to control the origin of shipments, prevent fraud and impersonation in the use of export codes; provide guidance on sanctions for violations related to growing area codes and packaging facility codes.
