US telecommunications giant AT&T said data from about 109 million customer accounts containing call and text message records from 2022 was illegally downloaded in April this year.
The FBI is investigating the incident. Police have arrested at least one person after a third party copied AT&T call logs to the cloud.
AT&T added that the compromised data included files containing call and text records of nearly all of its wireless and landline customers from May to October 2022, but did not contain the contents of calls, texts or personal information such as Social Security numbers.
In April, AT&T also confirmed that it had been affected by a data breach involving 73 million customers. The company said that security passcodes used to protect accounts for 7.6 million customers were also leaked.
