NDO - On the morning of October 26, Vu A Dinh Scholarship Fund (under the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union) organized the program "15-year mark - Lighting up dreams" to summarize five projects contributing to training young human resources for ethnic and island regions.

Vu A Dinh Scholarship Fund was established on March 5, 1999, with the goal of providing scholarships to ethnic minority students; contributing to the training of human resources for remote, mountainous and island areas.

After 10 years of operation, in 2009, the Fund determined its operational goals for the new period, investing in in-depth operations with many models ("Nurturing the future", "Opening the way to the future", "Fostering dreams", "Lighting up the future", "Supporting students") to contribute to building and creating long-term, sustainable resources for ethnic and island regions, difficult areas, and border areas of the Fatherland.

The projects are implemented according to a three-level continuous training and education process, starting from grade 6 and ending at university and college.

Thereby, helping students in remote areas, border areas and islands have the opportunity to access a good and modern learning environment; helping them develop physically, in terms of knowledge and skills, and receive fundamental and long-term training to become educated, dynamic young citizens and potential resources for localities in the future.

To date, the Fund has provided more than 130,000 scholarships to students who are children of ethnic minorities, children of fishermen and soldiers on duty in the sea and islands, and who have the spirit of overcoming difficulties and studying well across the country.

Over 15 years of implementation, the projects have invested more than 470 billion VND to raise and teach 1,737 students of 38 ethnic groups in 51 provinces and cities nationwide.

Of these, there are 1,248 ethnic minority students from 38 ethnic groups in 51 provinces and cities, and 489 students from coastal and island areas.

The Fund has also organized the construction of 20 schools and school sites, 2 clean water projects, 7 roads to schools and 40 new rural bridges to support the education cause in remote areas.

The projects have contributed positively to the cause of nurturing and training young human resources for ethnic minority, mountainous and island areas. Especially for the indigenous peoples along the Truong Son mountain range who are still facing difficulties and are inferior in all aspects and remote island areas.

Each project has demonstrated profound humanity in the cause of "growing people", the cause of fighting for gender equality, contributing to training a force of young citizens with knowledge and capacity for mountainous and island areas.
