This morning, November 23, the Department of Health of Quang Tri province in collaboration with Medipeace Organization held a conference to summarize the Project "Enhancing mental health care services to improve the quality of life for mothers with children with disabilities (CWD) in Quang Tri province" for the period 2022-2024.

The objective of the Project “Enhancing mental health care services to improve the quality of life for mothers with disabled children in Quang Tri province” is to establish a psychological support system for 500 mothers with disabled children in 3 districts: Hai Lang, Trieu Phong and Gio Linh.
As a result of the 2022-2024 period, 20 health workers and village health workers were trained in the psychological support system. Regarding the group psychological treatment program for mothers with disabilities, the project conducted 75 group psychological treatment sessions for mothers with disabilities with 1,500 participants.
This is an opportunity to help mothers build confidence, reduce stress and improve health care skills for themselves and their children.
Through the survey, 102/105 mothers felt very satisfied with the program content, frequency of organization as well as the effectiveness of the program. For the 1:1 remote psychological treatment program for high-risk mothers, 180 online therapy sessions were conducted for 15 mothers in 3 project beneficiary districts; 63% of participants responded that they were very satisfied with the program.
In addition, the project also organizes activities such as: Exchange, entertainment, haircuts, beauty treatments, family photography... Thereby, creating opportunities for mothers to make new friends, share experiences in caring for children with disabilities. Helping mothers and children with disabilities have the opportunity to participate in recreational activities, reducing stress in life.

The 2024 end-of-period survey found that the number of caregivers classified as at high risk of extremely severe depression or anxiety was 0.6%, down 92.4% from the beginning of the period.
The number of caregivers classified as at high risk of depression or anxiety decreased by 86.3% compared to the beginning of the period. The self-esteem of mothers with CWD increased significantly.
Speaking at the conference, Director of the Department of Health Do Van Hung believes that the values and lessons from the project will continue to spread. He hopes that mothers with disabled children will continue to apply the knowledge they have learned, maintain connections with each other, and inspire many other families.
At the same time, we hope that more organizations and communities will join hands to create a more comprehensive support environment for families with TKD.
The conference presented certificates to individuals who attended and completed training courses on community mental health care.
