Building a university-business ecosystem

On April 3, under the witness of leaders of the Ministry of Education and Training, three universities including Hanoi National University, Ho Chi Minh City National University and Hanoi University of Science and Technology signed a strategic cooperation agreement to promote research and technology development associated with businesses.

The event marks an important step forward in realizing Resolution 57-NQ/TW on developing high-quality human resources, towards building a cohesive and effective university-enterprise ecosystem .

According to the agreement, the three universities will carry out comprehensive cooperation in the fields of training, scientific research, technology transfer, innovation and digital transformation. The focus is on developing high-quality human resource training programs, especially at the postgraduate level for key and cutting-edge fields. The goal is to organize joint training and build a mechanism to help students receive degrees from all three universities.

These units will also implement credit recognition, student exchange in the form of “on-site study abroad”, and promote the exchange program of lecturers and researchers between the units. In addition, the three parties agreed to coordinate in organizing international scientific conferences, developing international standard scientific journals, organizing seminars and enhancing communication of joint cooperation activities to spread academic values ​​and enhance reputation at home and abroad.

The agreement is valid for 5 years from the date of signing. A joint subcommittee will be established to study, propose and coordinate the implementation of specific cooperation contents annually to ensure the effectiveness and sustainability of the program.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Associate Professor Dr. Pham Bao Son, Vice President of Hanoi National University, emphasized the importance of building strong links between universities, research institutes and enterprises. This will form a closed cycle “from laboratory to market”, from basic research to application and commercialization of products. He said that the High-Tech and Innovation Park of Hanoi National University will serve as a platform to implement specific cooperation activities with Ho Chi Minh City National University, Hanoi University of Science and Technology and enterprises.

According to Associate Professor Dr. Huynh Dang Chinh, Vice President of Hanoi University of Science and Technology, in addition to the cooperation between the three universities, the role of enterprises is a decisive factor in shaping training programs, promoting research, innovation and technology transfer. Hanoi University of Science and Technology is committed to working closely with enterprises to develop training programs that meet practical requirements, ensuring that students can work immediately after graduation. At the same time, it connects strong research groups with enterprises to develop highly applicable products and promote the university-enterprise cooperation model.

Mr. Wee Sung Yun, General Director of LG Electronics R&D Vietnam, highly appreciated the capacity and potential of the young Vietnamese workforce. He said that many young Vietnamese engineers have made important contributions to LG's R&D center, winning the company's internal programming competitions. According to him, this is a testament to the solid technical foundation and great potential of Vietnamese human resources in promoting the development of the information technology industry and innovation.

Representatives of participating units all agreed that this strategic cooperation is a practical step to maximize resources and promote the strengths of each unit. At the same time, it directly contributes to improving the quality of higher education in Vietnam, linking schools with the development needs of society and businesses. Thereby, it contributes significantly to realizing the major goals set out in Resolution 57-NQ/TW, building 3 universities into centers of excellence in training, research and innovation on a regional scale.
