NORAD has been providing Santa tracking services for 68 years.
The interactive 3D website at www.NORADsanta.org shows Santa’s location on his sleigh as he travels around the world, with users able to click on the sleigh’s location and learn more about the cities along the way, AFP reported on December 25.
NORAD's Santa tracking website dates back to 1955, when a Colorado newspaper printed an ad connecting children with Santa Claus, but mistakenly provided the NORAD hotline.
To avoid disappointing the children, then-NORAD Operations Director Colonel Harry Shoup directed his subordinates to check the radar to find Santa and update the children on the location of the reindeer sleigh on its way to deliver gifts.
This year, US President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden will also attend the traditional event on Christmas Day 2023.
"This evening, the President and First Lady participated in a NORAD Santa Tracking Call with children and families across the United States," the White House said.

Earlier on December 24, Santa's tracking tool was briefly down, leaving children in the Pacific region without knowing his exact location during this time.
