Vietnam Airlines strategic cooperation with Lao Airlines

Within the framework of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's official visit to Laos, Vietnam Airlines and Lao Airlines signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), opening a period of extensive strategic cooperation between the two national airlines.

The signing ceremony took place at the National Convention Center, Vientiane (Laos) with the presence of senior leaders of the two countries, affirming the determination of both sides to continuously improve the quality of aviation services and expand regional connectivity.

Vietnam Airlines and Lao Airlines signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), opening a period of extensive strategic cooperation between the two national airlines.

Accordingly, Vietnam Airlines will support Lao Airlines in providing technical services at Wattay International Airport (Vientiane) and Luang Prabang for the Airbus A320/321 fleet, as soon as Lao Airlines meets the service certificate requirements.

The two sides also signed a cooperation agreement in the field of cargo transportation at Wattay airport when Lao Airlines completed the establishment of a cargo service company. This promises to create a strong driving force for the development of logistics networks and air trade in the region.

In addition to the service sector, the agreement also opens up great opportunities for training and experience exchange between the two national airlines. Aircraft maintenance engineers, pilots and flight attendants from both sides will have the opportunity to study and work in a professional environment, contributing to improving the quality of aviation human resources according to international standards.

In particular, this agreement also lays the foundation for converting the codeshare cooperation between the two airlines into a more flexible form, expanding connections on routes not only between Vietnam and Laos but also reaching out to other markets.

This is considered a strategic move to take advantage of the strengths and enhance the position of both airlines in the Southeast Asian region.

Vietnam Airlines operates 12 flights per week connecting Vietnam and Laos. These routes not only serve travel needs but also act as an important bridge in economic trade and cultural exchange between the two countries.

The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding is a step forward contributing to the development of the regional aviation industry, creating momentum for economic development, trade and tourism.
