The Board of Directors of Vietjet Aviation Joint Stock Company (Vietjet Air), chaired by billionaire Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, has just announced a resolution approving a plan to issue private bonds.
Accordingly, Vietjet Air will issue non-convertible, unsecured, private bonds with a total value of VND2,000 billion.
The bonds will be issued in two tranches, each worth VND1,000 billion, with the first tranche expected in the third quarter of 2024 and the second tranche of VND1,000 billion, expected from the third to fourth quarter of 2024.
A few days ago, Vietjet Air signed a cooperation agreement worth 1.1 billion USD with Honeywell Aerospace Engineering Corporation to provide electronic equipment and aviation engineering services for the airline's fleet.
In July 2024, Vietjet Air signed a $7.4 billion aircraft purchase agreement at the Farnborough Airshow 2024. The new aircraft will replace the airline's current A330-300 fleet and support its plans to expand its network further.
At the conference of the Government Standing Committee working with businesses on solutions to contribute to the country's socio-economic development on September 21, Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao expressed her desire to build Vietnam into an aviation hub of the region and the world.
Ms. Thao suggested creating conditions for aviation to quickly attract international tourism, trade, and investment to Vietnam.
Vietjet representatives also hope that Vietnam can become a center for training human resources and aviation technology. Vietnam has the conditions and capacity to build a hangar system as infrastructure for a regional-scale aircraft technical service center at Vietnamese airports.
Vietjet currently operates more than 100 aircraft. In the first 6 months of 2024, VJC's air transport revenue reached nearly VND33,900 billion. Pre-tax profit reached VND1,166 billion, a sharp increase compared to the same period last year.
Vietjet operates more than 149 routes, including 38 domestic routes and 111 international routes.
