The 20th China-ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO 2023) will be held in Nanning City, Guangxi Province, China in September 2023, after 3 years of not being held in person due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic as well as the epidemic prevention measures of the Chinese Government and ASEAN countries. Chinese media highly appreciated Vietnam's role and active participation in this event.
China News quoted information from the CAEXPO Secretariat as saying that Vietnam actively participated in the 20th CAEXPO and is one of the countries with the largest exhibition area among ASEAN countries. Many famous Vietnamese brands have registered to participate in the exhibition, and Son La province debuted for the first time as a "Charming City".
According to China News, within the framework of the 20th CAEXPO, more than 70 investment and trade promotion activities will be held, such as the China-Vietnam Economic and Trade Forum and the Vietnam Special Promotion Conference, roundtable conferences, cooperation promotion events, and investment calling between ASEAN countries and China in many fields.

The CAEXPO Secretariat said that it has deployed a series of innovative solutions to serve enterprises participating in the exhibition, providing Vietnamese enterprises with non-stop exhibition space for 365 days. Platforms such as “Cloud CAEXPO”, China-ASEAN Economic and Trade Center, China-ASEAN Special Commodity Convergence Center will also provide continuous services for Vietnamese enterprises to expand the Chinese market.
With the advantage of geographical location, Vietnam and China have a long-standing relationship of exchange and cooperation in many fields. In 2004, the first China-ASEAN Expo opened a new chapter for the strong development of economic and trade cooperation between the two countries. In recent years, through the CAEXPO platform, typical Vietnamese products such as wooden furniture, agricultural products, and food have successfully penetrated the Chinese market; many investment projects such as export processing zones, industrial parks, and economic and trade cooperation zones between China and Vietnam have been promoted and put into operation.
More than 10 localities of Vietnam such as Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Ha Long, Hue... have participated in CAEXPO as "Charming Cities" to introduce tourism advantages and business cooperation opportunities, contributing to promoting tourism cooperation and people-to-people exchange between the two countries.
In recent years, the substantive cooperation between Vietnam and China has become increasingly in-depth, with the structure of import and export goods between the two countries being highly complementary. In 2022, bilateral trade turnover between the two countries reached 234.92 billion USD, up 2.1% over the same period last year.
