Xinhua news agency reported the event in detail, saying that six years after his most recent visit to Vietnam, Xi Jinping's upcoming visit "will certainly strengthen mutual political trust between the two countries and promote mutually beneficial cooperation."

This event will also strengthen the relationship between the two peoples, creating a strong impetus to open a new phase in bilateral relations at a "higher starting point".

In today's editorial, Xinhua praised the special relationship between the two countries that has brought benefits to the people of Vietnam and China. This friendship is clearly reflected in each country's foreign policy, considering bilateral relations as a top priority.

"After Vietnamese durian officially entered the Chinese market last year, fruit and vegetable exports to China have increased significantly this year, with durian alone expected to reach the $1 billion target," the editorial said. "China's investment in Vietnam has been increasing, ranking second in the first nine months of this year."

According to the Vietnam Fruit and Vegetable Association, China is the largest consumer market for Vietnamese durian, accounting for 97% of the market share, reaching nearly 1.9 billion USD.

China Global Television Network ( CGTN ) quoted Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin as saying that the visit would help the two countries "jointly pursue the path of modernization..., enrich the path of modernization for developing countries and bring more benefits to the people of the two countries."

Mr. Wang stressed that strengthening solidarity and cooperation between the two countries will benefit maintaining peace, stability and prosperity in the region as well as the world.

In a report on people-to-people exchanges between Vietnam and China, CGTN said that border crossings between people of the two countries have been increased, as immigration procedures have become simpler and more convenient.

In another report, CGTN interviewed a number of Hanoi residents about their feelings about President Xi Jinping’s upcoming visit. The respondents were all happy and hoped that the visit would help strengthen political and trade relations between the two countries.

Global Times , a newspaper affiliated with People's Daily , the mouthpiece of the Chinese Communist Party, quoted analysts as saying that "the upcoming state visit reflects the fact that both sides regard bilateral relations as important and special."

Xu Liping, director of the Center for Southeast Asian Studies at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, told the Global Times on December 7 that a key area in China-Vietnam economic and trade cooperation is green energy.

He assessed that Vietnam is facing great pressure to switch to new energy sources but lacks the necessary technological expertise. Meanwhile, China is developing rapidly in the field of new energy. This makes the two countries able to strongly complement each other.

Strengthening connectivity between the two countries could also be a focus of discussion during the visit, according to Xu.

Meeting with President Xi Jinping in Beijing in June, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh suggested that both sides study the possibility of developing a high-speed, standard-gauge railway connecting Vietnam and China. The Prime Minister also hoped that China would grant more quota for Vietnamese goods transiting via Chinese railways to third countries.

Expert Xu believes that in this context, enhancing logistics capacity and exploiting the potential in Vietnam-China international railway cooperation could be an important area of cooperation.

"The two sides also need to work together to enhance the potential for economic and trade cooperation, while promoting in-depth cooperation in supply chains and industrial chains," he noted.

Xinhua said that in a world that is changing at a pace unprecedented in a century, Vietnam and China have both successfully developed their own modernization paths, based on national conditions and the trends of the times.

"With inspiration and joint efforts, the boat of friendship between China and Vietnam will surely head towards greater success," the Chinese news agency emphasized.
