On April 14, in response to a reporter's question about Vietnam's reaction to the missile launch into Israeli territory, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Pham Thu Hang emphasized that Vietnam is deeply concerned about the current escalating tensions in the Middle East, especially acts of force that violate the United Nations Charter and cause losses to civilians.
Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Pham Thu Hang
"We call on relevant parties to exercise restraint, resolve disagreements by peaceful means, strictly comply with international law, the Charter and relevant resolutions of the United Nations , and immediately end acts of force that escalate tensions, for the sake of security, safety, peace and stability in the region and the world," Ms. Hang stated.
As Thanh Nien reported, the Israeli military confirmed that Iran had launched more than 200 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and missiles into Israel since the early morning of April 14 (Vietnam time), and described many imminent threats that had been intercepted from the Israeli border, according to Reuters.
Iran said the attack was in retaliation for an April 1 airstrike on the Iranian embassy in Syria that killed seven Iranian officers.
The United Nations and many countries also issued statements calling for restraint and avoiding the spread of conflict in the Middle East.
