Vietnam is the top choice of Indian tourists

Recent statistics from Google in India show that Vietnam is the most searched tourist destination on this platform in 2023, surpassing Bali (Indonesia), Sri Lanka, Thailand and several other countries.

Vietnam has countless attractive tourist destinations.

India is a large country with a population of over 1.4 billion people. Every year, about 25 million people go abroad and this number is expected to increase to 50 million in the near future. India is also a popular tourist market for MICE tourism (tourism combined with conferences, seminars, and year-end employee awards).

Apart from the growing middle class in India, rising incomes and more Indians willing to spend big on tourism, another reason why the S-shaped strip of land is a “hot spot” is because Vietnam is a destination not too far from India and still within the ASEAN region. Visitors from most parts of the country only need about 4-5 hours by flight to get here.

Marketing & Sales Director of Joymark Travel JSC Hoang Phuong analyzed that the biggest advantage of traveling to Vietnam compared to other countries in the region is that the service price is 10-15% cheaper but still ensures quality. Vietjet Air opens a series of direct flights to India, also stimulating tourism demand.

Statistics on Google's market trend tracking tool show that the number of searches for Vietnam tourism demand from the Indian market increased 30 times compared to the same period in 2022.

Agoda data shows that from January 2019 to mid-May 2023, searches for hotels and flights to Vietnam by Indian tourists alone increased by 390%. Currently, Vietnam is in the top 5 destinations for Indian tourists.

Experts say that after China, India is the target market for the tourism industry in many countries around the world, including Vietnam.

To take full advantage of the above-mentioned tourist group, the Vietnamese tourism industry needs to carefully research the market in terms of segments; understand Indian culture and customs to design products that suit the needs and tastes of customers.
