Stop private parking for money at Nha Trang beach

Currently, at many parking lots that collect money in the open spaces used as roads for people and tourists going to Nha Trang beach on the east side of Tran Phu street, signs have been hung up saying "Motorbike parking prohibited area".

The practice of blocking many entrances to Nha Trang beach and hanging signs to collect parking fees has "sprouted up" more and more over the years, due to individuals winning auctions for parking lots and then organizing parking and collecting fees.

The "no motorbike parking" signs at private parking lots that collect fees on Nha Trang beach mentioned above were just implemented by the Public Service Management Board under the Nha Trang City People's Committee under the direction of the Chairman of the Nha Trang City People's Committee.

Regarding the above mentioned parking lots at Nha Trang beach that are privately operated, many locals and tourists have complained about the rampant and excessive "overcharging".

According to local residents, some private parking lot employees at Nha Trang beach also act like thugs, threaten and cause trouble when local people ride their motorbikes into the paths leading to the beach just to look around or take a few photos and then turn around...

Many tourists from other places who came to Nha Trang have also complained about being "ripped off" when parking their cars at some places on Nha Trang beach in the past.

On the evening of April 13, Mr. Luu Thanh Nhan - Permanent Vice Chairman of Nha Trang City People's Committee - said that to end the above situations and restore order in parking at Nha Trang beach, Khanh Hoa province approved the city to organize a temporary centralized parking lot (since before the Lunar New Year) on the beach land where the province had cleared the Ana Mandara tourist area and hotel.

At the same time, the Chairman of Nha Trang City People's Committee directed the City Public Service Management Board to liquidate all contracts assigned to private individuals to collect parking fees at Nha Trang beach.

In the near future, Nha Trang City will reorganize parking lots at Nha Trang beach, assigning the local ward People's Committee to keep vehicles at all locations on Nha Trang beach and collect parking fees according to the prescribed fees issued by the province.

According to Mr. Luu Thanh Nhan, the parking lots that will be assigned to the ward to implement on Nha Trang beach in the near future will have monitoring and surveillance equipment arranged like the parking lots in tourist areas, shopping centers, etc. to manage and monitor the collection of parking fees.

Propose the province to consider and issue an increase in parking fees at Nha Trang beach

According to Mr. Luu Thanh Nhan, the current parking fee in Nha Trang City previously issued by the People's Council of Khanh Hoa province has become too low, no longer suitable for actual conditions.

Therefore, in the near future, Nha Trang City People's Committee will propose Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee to submit to the Provincial People's Council to consider and issue a resolution to increase parking fees at Nha Trang beach appropriately, so that when assigning the Ward People's Committee to organize parking and collect parking fees, it will ensure a source of revenue to maintain the organization of those activities, in order to avoid the situation of "overcharging" when collecting parking fees and avoid causing trouble for people and tourists coming to Nha Trang as has happened before.
