On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), at the invitation of Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son, UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan paid an official visit to Vietnam from June 13-14.
On the morning of June 14, at the Ministry's headquarters, Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son held talks with UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
At the meeting, Minister Bui Thanh Son expressed his pleasure to welcome the UAE Foreign Minister on his third official visit to Vietnam, affirming that the UAE Foreign Minister's visit is of great significance as it takes place right after the visit to the UAE by Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan (May 2023).
Minister Bui Thanh Son affirmed that the recent vibrant delegation exchanges at many levels between the two countries are clear evidence of the positive development momentum in bilateral relations, especially as the two countries celebrate the 30th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations this year (1993-2023).
UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan shared his good feelings with Vietnam, expressed his impression of the socio-economic achievements that Vietnam has achieved, and highly appreciated the increasingly important role and position of Vietnam in the region and the world.
Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan affirmed that the UAE wishes to strengthen relations with Vietnam and considers Vietnam one of its important partners in Southeast Asia.
In a sincere and open atmosphere, the two Ministers discussed and appreciated the positive developments in the friendship and multifaceted cooperation between Vietnam and the UAE since the 2nd Political Consultation between the two Ministries of Foreign Affairs (February 2023), especially in potential areas such as politics - diplomacy, economics - trade, investment, oil and gas, renewable energy, tourism...

On that basis, the two sides assessed that Vietnam and the UAE still have much potential to further enhance the effectiveness of cooperation in the coming time and agreed on measures and plans that the two countries need to coordinate to implement to enhance the effectiveness of bilateral cooperation.
Politically, the two sides agreed to strengthen the focal role of the two Foreign Ministries, increase the exchange of delegations at all levels, especially high-level delegations, to create breakthroughs for bilateral cooperation; actively coordinate and support each other at multilateral forums; improve the effectiveness of the Political Consultation mechanism between the two Foreign Ministries; and promote the role of Vietnam and the UAE in the relationship between ASEAN and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).
Minister Bui Thanh Son affirmed that Vietnam welcomes the UAE to host the 28th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28), emphasizing that Vietnam will actively coordinate with the UAE as well as other member countries participating in the Convention, for the success of COP28.
Regarding economics, trade and investment, the two sides agreed to continue efforts to exchange information and move towards early completion of negotiations and signing of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) in 2023 to create a breakthrough for economic cooperation.
The two Ministers highly appreciated the results of recent business delegation exchanges between the two countries, and agreed to continue promoting connections between businesses, localities and investment funds of both sides; and study expanding cooperation in other potential areas such as oil and gas, renewable energy, innovation, sustainable development, environmental protection, climate change response, skilled labor, tourism, agriculture, Halal industry, etc.
The two sides agreed to promote negotiations and signing of cooperation documents in the fields of agriculture, human resources, technology, etc., towards perfecting the legal corridor for bilateral cooperation.
On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations, the two sides agreed to coordinate in organizing cultural and sports activities and increase people-to-people exchange activities to further strengthen the friendship between the two peoples.
Within the framework of the talks, the two Ministers witnessed the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam and the UAE Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy.
