More than 120 delegates from diplomatic agencies, governments and businesses attended the "Meet Asia" conference held on March 14 at Rome City Hall, Italy to discuss key issues in bilateral relations, especially trade, culture and tourism.

Speaking at the conference, Vietnamese Ambassador to Italy Duong Hai Hung emphasized that the Vietnam-Italy strategic partnership has grown strongly over the past 50 years.
Vietnam is currently Italy's largest trading partner in ASEAN with two-way trade turnover in 2024 reaching 6.9 billion USD, up 13.1% over the previous year.
The presence of Leonardo Group and credit institutions SACE and Simest in Vietnam has contributed to promoting trade and investment flows between the two countries and promoting Made in Italy products in the Vietnamese market of 100 million people.
The conference took place with four thematic discussions, attracting more than 20 speakers. Experts focused on discussing the culture and traditions of four Asian countries with close relations with Italy: Vietnam, Thailand, China and Japan, as well as issues of tourism, agriculture, sustainable development, trade and contemporary art.
Ms. Francesca Leoncini, representative of the Rome City Council, affirmed that Asia is a potential market for Italian businesses. In particular, Vietnam is considered a country with great growth potential, which Rome and Italy attach special importance to in their partnership development strategy.

In the tourism sector, experts emphasize the important role of Asian tourists in the Italian tourism industry.
Mr. Elia Rosciano, President of the Italian Federation of Non-Hotel Accommodation Associations, expressed his confidence in the potential for cooperation between the two sides, especially in attracting more and more Vietnamese tourists to Italy.
On the commercial side, representatives of Italian businesses such as wine company Marchesi Mazzei and internationalization consultancy Mediterraneo both said that Vietnam is a promising market with growing consumer demand and a favorable investment environment.
