With the solidarity between the army and the people, relying on the rugged terrain of the mountains and forests, during the resistance war against the US, Tra My land became a base, a foothold for the revolutionary forces of Military Region 5. Peace was restored, the land of the base grew and developed day by day, making generations of people more and more proud of its glorious history full of achievements.
Old achievements
The land of Nuoc Oa - Tra Tan commune became the base of the Party Committee of Zone 5, the Command of Military Zone 5 and the agencies of Zone 5 during the resistance war against the US, period 1960 - 1973.
According to veteran revolutionary cadre Huynh Tan Sam - former Party Secretary of Bac Tra My district, with the tradition of patriotism, love for the homeland, and protection of mountains and forests, the ethnic groups of Tra My district have maximized their strength.
By promoting propaganda and education on the Party's guidelines and policies, the justice of the national liberation struggle has mobilized the people's patriotism to participate in protecting and helping the revolution.
Mr. Sam said that at that time, the bombs were fierce, the party members and the people were united, the call "party members go first, the country follows", "no party member retreats in the face of hardship and fierceness" mobilized the people's strength to protect the revolution. Each committee member, each party member was a guerrilla holding a gun, a soldier carrying goods, loading ammunition, devoted to the assigned task.
Cadres and people both fought and produced, contributing human and material resources to the resistance war against American imperialism, building Tra My district into a base, a foothold for the revolutionary forces of Military Region 5.
Together with the armed forces of Military Region 5, the Party Committee and people of Tra My united as one, defeated the invading enemy, creating the victory at Doc Commune Post on March 27, 1971, completely liberated Tra My, creating more momentum and strength for the campaign to liberate the homeland in 1975.
New success
Now, the base land is the Central Central Vietnam - Nuoc Oa Historical Relic Site, still a heroic testament to the arduous years of resistance.
Recognized as a national relic in 1992, the Central Central - Nuoc Oa historical relic site is planned on an area of 700 hectares, forming a complex with 11 restored and constructed relic sites. The relic site is preserved and promoted by the Bac Tra My District Party Committee and People's Committee, becoming a "red address" to educate revolutionary traditions for future generations.
In the long term, to ensure the preservation and promotion of the historical value of the Central Central - Nuoc Oa Historical Relic Site, investment in renovation and upgrading to connect the relic complexes to serve management, operation and especially exploit the potential of historical tourism and source activities is very necessary.
According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuyet Thanh - Secretary of Bac Tra My District Party Committee, in the old base area, people's lives have been improved day by day, especially the people of Tra Tan commune have built a new countryside, taking steady steps towards an advanced new rural commune in the coming time. Compared to the time when Tra My was first divided into Nam Tra My and Bac Tra My districts, people's lives in the revolutionary base area have changed a lot.
