Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Secretary of the Yunnan Provincial Party Committee Wang Ning expressed their joy and positive assessment of the progress of the relations between the two Parties and the two countries of Vietnam and China in recent times.

According to the special correspondent of VNA, within the framework of attending the 8th Greater Mekong Sub-region Cooperation Summit and working in China, on the morning of November 6, in Kunming city, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received comrade Wang Ning, member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, Secretary of the Yunnan Provincial Party Committee.
In an atmosphere of friendship, sincerity and trust, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Secretary of the Yunnan Provincial Party Committee Wang Ning expressed their joy and positive assessment of the progress of the relations between the two Parties and the two countries of Vietnam and China in recent times, and discussed measures to further promote cooperation between Vietnamese ministries, sectors and localities with Yunnan province in the coming time.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh sincerely thanked the Party Committee, Government and relevant agencies of Yunnan province for their close and effective coordination in flood discharge regulation, helping Vietnam mitigate the damage caused by Typhoon Yagi (Typhoon No. 3); acknowledged and highly appreciated the positive progress in cooperation between all levels and sectors of Vietnam and Yunnan province; affirmed that the Party and Government of Vietnam always attach importance to, care for, support and create all favorable conditions for Vietnamese localities to strengthen cooperation with Chinese localities, including Yunnan province.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that Yunnan holds a very important position in the overall Vietnam-China relationship. Vietnam and Yunnan have many potentials, advantages and favorable conditions for developing cooperation, with many complementary advantages. The desires and needs of both sides in trade and exchanges are very large.
The Prime Minister suggested that Yunnan take the lead in implementing high-level common perceptions and Joint Statements, increase exchanges with Vietnamese localities; strive to increase Vietnam-Yunnan trade turnover to 5 billion USD, making Yunnan and Lao Cai become the center for trade connection between China and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN); promote the pilot implementation of the smart border gate model; strengthen coordination in flood discharge regulation and natural disaster prevention; and create favorable conditions for procedures for Vietnamese citizens living in Yunnan.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh hopes that the two sides will closely coordinate in border management and protection according to the three documents on land borders and related agreements, and coordinate to well organize activities to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the signing of the Land Border Treaty and the 15th anniversary of the signing of the three legal documents on land borders in 2024.
Agreeing with the important opinions of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Secretary of the Yunnan Provincial Party Committee Wang Ning expressed his welcome and honor to welcome Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the high-ranking delegation of the Vietnamese Government to visit Yunnan province; affirming that Yunnan attaches importance to the friendly and cooperative relationship with Vietnam.
Secretary of the Yunnan Provincial Party Committee Wang Ning is ready to work with Vietnamese ministries, sectors and localities to effectively implement the common perception of General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping and General Secretary To Lam, as well as the instructions and proposals of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh; increase delegation exchanges at all levels, effectively promote the role of existing cooperation mechanisms, especially the meeting mechanism between the Secretaries of the five provinces, deepen economic and trade cooperation, make good use of railway projects connecting the two countries, and strengthen the connection of railway and road infrastructure.
The Yunnan Provincial Party Secretary said the province wishes to strengthen cooperation with Vietnam in areas where Yunnan is strong, such as green energy, highland agriculture, and tourism; at the same time, promote economic, trade, border economic cooperation, and cooperation in developing advanced manufacturing industries; closely cooperate in the fields of cadre training, poverty reduction, environmental protection, and sustainable development; promote cooperation in the fields of health, culture, and education, contributing to consolidating the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between China and Vietnam./.
