Mr. Nguyen Trong Quan (Hai Nam village, Cam Nhuong commune) shared: “In addition to preventing salinity, the embankment is also a protective armor for households in the embankment. My house is located right next to the embankment, so since the sea embankment has had landslides and subsidence, my family has been very insecure and worried.”

With this landslide, Cam Nhuong commune had to mobilize more machinery to "patch" the severely damaged areas. Some landslide areas were nearly 100m2 , the locality mobilized dozens of trucks carrying 10m3 of rock per trip to fill the frog pits that had been dug deep under the embankment.

According to statistics, the entire embankment from Hai Nam village to Hai Bac village, 350m long, has 9 landslide points that need to be promptly repaired to cope with storms and rains. " To repair landslides at these points, the commune mobilized nearly 300 people, including cadres, soldiers, militia and people from 9 villages in the area to participate. At first, the commune expected to need more than 200m3 of rubble to reinforce these points, but the implementation process generated more problems " - Mr. Nguyen Van Hung, Chairman of Cam Nhuong Commune People's Committee informed.

According to local leaders, the work of reinforcing landslide points on the Cam Nhuong sea embankment has basically been completed. However, according to local people, the reinforcement solution with stone cages is only temporary. Currently, the inside of the embankment is hollow, so when reinforcing one point, the waves will cause another point to collapse.

Local people are eagerly waiting for the project to be implemented soon to "resolve" the insecurity and anxiety before the approaching storm season.

This is the third time the embankment has collapsed and the locality has had to temporarily repair it while waiting for the project. Currently, the District People's Committee has assigned the Construction Project Management Board to complete the documents and procedures. We are waiting for the Provincial People's Committee to come up with a plan to allocate capital to implement the bidding and construction.
