After nearly 7 years of starting a business, through many hardships, Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Huong (Director of Macca sachi Thinh Phat Trading and Import-Export Company Limited, Dak Nong province) has finally tasted the sweet fruits of success.
PV: Why did you choose to start a business with dried macadamia products and not other fruits?
Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Huong: By chance, when choosing to buy macadamia nuts (originating from Australia) as a gift for relatives, I realized that this product line is very popular, has nutritional value and high price. Meanwhile, in my home province of Dak Nong, many people have also started to grow this type of nut but the output is not stable. Anything new will have a lot of potential, so I cherished the idea of starting a business with a specialized macadamia processing project.
After more than a year and many challenges, in May 2018, our first product was completed. With the initial success, I boldly imported some advanced machinery and equipment for deep processing of macadamia nuts. Up to now, the company has 5 products processed from macadamia nuts including: Dried macadamia nuts, macadamia milk, macadamia oil, macadamia cake and macadamia lipstick. Many advanced equipment are applied by the unit in the macadamia processing process such as: Raw material storage warehouse, peeling machine, dryer, seed sorting machine...
Every year, our company supplies the market with 40-50 tons of various macadamia products. The products are available in many provinces, cities and supermarket systems across the country.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Huong (standing in the middle, front row) is in the top 10 outstanding young entrepreneurs nationwide in 2023.
PV: To ensure sustainable production materials, what connections does the company have with farmers?
Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Huong: To ensure the source of raw materials for production, we are cooperating to grow more than 10 hectares of macadamia in an organic direction that meets USDA standards (US organic certification). In particular, the company supports farmers in terms of varieties, care techniques, and closely monitors the macadamia planting and harvesting process. This is the company's long-term, sustainable strategy, aiming to bring the best quality macadamia products to domestic and foreign consumers.
To avoid farmers falling into the situation of "good harvest, low price", since 2023, our company has boldly signed a contract to purchase products for farmers. When businesses and farmers have close commitments between production and consumption, farmers will be guaranteed output, feel secure in production, and get rich legitimately from farming.
PV: After nearly 7 years of efforts to improve quality, diversify designs, and create products, can you share the achievements you have made?
Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Huong: Currently, the market for freeze-dried nuts and fruits is very popular with consumers. Because customers' demand is to use clean, pure products, without color, flavor, or chemicals. The freeze-dried product line has been born to catch up with that consumer trend.
The products manufactured at the company have created stable jobs for dozens of female workers.
Our company has imported a freeze dryer with a processing capacity of 200kg/batch. In the near future, the company will import a new machine with a capacity of 5 tons/batch to promptly supply the market. This new type of equipment can dry all kinds of vegetables, tubers, and fruits, which can help farmers develop raw material areas and help the company develop more new, higher quality products.
Freeze drying (also known as freeze drying) is the process of removing water from food, helping the water to change from solid to gas in a vacuum environment. In vacuum conditions, when water sublimates directly, it will change from solid to gas. Thanks to that, the product after drying still retains the shape, taste, color as well as nutrients in the food.
We have also opened a factory in Dak Ha and will continue to open another factory in Dak Song. The company has invested in 3 freezers and cold storages, with a capacity of 200 tons to be able to reserve raw materials for production when the season is over.
Thanks to the continuous efforts, in 2023, the Company has 3 more products certified with 4-star OCOP at the provincial level, namely: Freeze-dried durian, freeze-dried mangosteen and freeze-dried jackfruit. In addition, the Company has also achieved many other successes such as: National typical product; Top 10 outstanding young entrepreneurs in 2023; Luong Dinh Cua Award in 2021; First prize in the Startup Competition; Excellent Enterprise Award following Uncle Ho's teachings; Provincial typical agricultural product and many awards in the local clean agricultural production industry...
We are also focusing on building 2 OCOP certified products for freeze-dried strawberries and green pepper.

PV: After conquering domestic consumers, will you definitely have a strategy to reach out to foreign consumers?
Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Huong: Currently, in addition to the domestic market, we are exporting products to the US and Taiwan (China) through unofficial channels. Drawing on experience from previous approaches to international markets, we have, are, and will build our own marketing strategy as well as a specific and detailed product export roadmap for each stage.
At present, we cannot confirm anything, but in the near future, we will definitely make efforts to bring the company's products, which are also specialties of the Central Highlands, to consumers in many countries around the world.
PV: Thank you for the interview! Wishing the company continued success.
