This is an activity that AFC usually organizes before each major tournament, to help participating teams understand their rights and responsibilities during the competition. The important contents emphasized by AFC at the meeting with U.23 Vietnam are the work of preventing negativity in football, the spirit of compliance with the competition rules, fair-play and respect for the referee's decisions.
AFC representatives said that, similar to the 2022 tournament, video assistant referee (VAR) technology will continue to be deployed in all matches (32 matches) of the 2024 AFC U23 Championship. VAR helps referees review videos from different angles to make the most accurate decision. However, according to FIFA and the International Football Association Board (IFAB) regulations, VAR can only be used in the case of a "clear error" or "serious missed situation" related to: goal/no goal, penalty/no penalty, direct red card (not second yellow card/second warning), misidentifying the offending player (in case the referee warns/yellow cards or sends off).
Also on April 14, the futsal team had its first training session in Thailand.
During this professional training session, coach Diego Raul asked his players to organize attacks. This is considered one of the goals of the Argentine strategist since leading the Vietnamese futsal team because according to Mr. Diego Raul, organizing attacks is a limitation that needs more practice.
After the attack with the goalkeeper's attacks, the head coach of the Vietnam futsal team asked his players to organize side kicks from their own half to ensure the safety of the goal, and at the same time look for opportunities to attack the opponent's goal from these set pieces on the side. At the end of the training session, the players of the Vietnam futsal team were asked to practice set pieces in front of the penalty area. Coach Diego Raul gave his players detailed instructions on each move and how to organize positions to gain an advantage over the opponent, and at the same time execute and coordinate most effectively.
The weather in Bangkok is quite similar to that in Ho Chi Minh City, where the Vietnamese futsal team has been training recently, so it is not difficult for coach Diego Raul's students to adapt. Due to the hot weather, the players are required to keep the room temperature at a moderate level, avoiding too cold temperatures that could affect their health. On April 15, the Vietnamese futsal team will have a training session.
VAR will be applied in all matches of the 2024 AFC U23 Championship.
Tablets are provided by AFC in the technical area of each team participating in the 2024 AFC U-23 Championship. However, teams are not allowed to use this device to react to the referee.
In addition, AFC also provides a tablet in the technical area to support the professional work of the team's coaching staff. This tablet will be provided with access to many different camera angles, allowing teams to watch live or review situations on the field. However, AFC emphasizes that the use of the tablet is only for tactical and medical analysis purposes (reviewing collision situations that lead to injuries). Teams are absolutely not allowed to use the footage in the tablet to review or protest the referee's decisions.
In addition, AFC also provides participating teams with an account to access the PressBox Live platform, to exploit resources of statistical data that are continuously updated during the matches. This is very helpful for the coaching staff of the teams in analyzing tactics before, after and even during the match.

Also at the meeting, the AFC's tournament commercial rights department inspected the training and competition equipment of the Vietnam U.23 team. Due to their experience participating in major tournaments of FIFA and AFC as well as their understanding of the tournament's regulations, all of the team's equipment fully and accurately met the requirements, from the use of fonts to the size of logos as well as other strict regulations related to the tournament's image copyright.
