Delegates attending the conference.
The project "Propaganda and mobilization of farmers to treat waste in Vietnam, contributing to the international community's efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions" is funded by the BRACE Fund and implemented by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Association. Thanh Hoa is one of 15 provinces and cities nationwide selected by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Association to participate in the project. The project will be implemented by the Thanh Hoa Provincial Farmers' Association from 2022 in 11 communes and towns of 3 districts: Quang Xuong, Thieu Hoa, Yen Dinh with many activities such as: Project launch, technical training, and organization of communication events.
Provincial People's Council leaders spoke at the conference.
At the conference, delegates were informed about the current status of waste classification and treatment, and introduced environmentally friendly organic waste treatment methods through the application of waste treatment techniques within the framework of the Project "Propaganda and mobilization of farmers to treat waste in Vietnam, contributing to the international community's efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions". Accordingly, the reporter conveyed techniques for fermenting crop by-products as animal feed, composting organic fertilizer from crop by-products in the field, raising chickens on thick biological bedding, raising calcium worms, and raising earthworms. These are quite simple, easy-to-do, and environmentally friendly techniques. Farmers can take advantage of post-harvest agricultural by-products to ferment crop by-products as nutritious feed for livestock, compost organic fertilizer from straw and crop by-products right in the field; Raising calcium worms, raising earthworms with pig manure, buffalo, cow, chicken manure, leftover food... In addition, these measures also create a new source of food for livestock and a valuable source of organic fertilizer (calcium worm manure, earthworm manure); raising chickens on thick biological bedding helps reduce the work of cleaning the coop, there is no more unpleasant smell in the coop, the chickens grow quickly and healthily, and are less susceptible to diseases.
Conference overview.
Up to now, the Provincial HND Waste Treatment Project Management Board has organized 55 training courses for 2,750 cadres, members and farmers to participate; training presentations in the hall, practicing techniques right at households; implementing 495 models; establishing waste collection teams and project propaganda teams; supporting each commune with 1 agricultural by-product chopper; organizing project communication activities; contributing to changing farmers' awareness and habits in agricultural production and protecting the rural environment.
Through the conference, members and farmers are encouraged to apply methods of converting organic waste, contributing to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, protecting the environment and increasing income.
