On April 13, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Lich - Vice Chairman of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee - said that the province has just approved the enrollment plan for grade 10 in the 2024-2025 school year.
According to the 10th grade enrollment plan this year, high schools and multi-level general schools with high school level in Gia Lai will implement the admission method.
Hung Vuong High School for the Gifted still conducts 10th grade enrollment through entrance exams.
In addition, Gia Lai Provincial Center for Continuing Education, vocational education centers and continuing education centers conduct enrollment according to regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training.
According to the Vice Chairman of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee, the decision not to hold entrance exams for grade 10 was made based on sociological investigations and consultation with various sectors.
According to provincial leaders, assessing learning outcomes is a process that ensures students’ right to education. Therefore, organizing the 10th grade entrance exam is costly for parents and the State.
This year's enrollment plan of the education sector has taken into account priority factors for students who are ethnic minorities and other priority subjects, creating favorable conditions for learning activities and gradually overcoming shortcomings in enrollment methods.
Gia Lai provincial leaders said they will direct the Department of Education and Training to continue researching solutions to develop better enrollment plans in the following years.
Add up to 4 priority points
According to the plan, the score for priority beneficiaries is specified as follows:
Add 4 points for students who are one of the following categories: children of martyrs; children of war invalids, children of sick soldiers with a labor capacity loss of 81% or more; children of people enjoying policies like war invalids with a labor capacity loss of 81% or more.
Add 3.5 points for one of the following subjects: children of People's Armed Forces Heroes, Labor Heroes; children of war invalids, sick soldiers with labor capacity loss of less than 81%; children of people enjoying the same policies as war invalids with labor capacity loss of less than 81%.
Add 3 points for one of the following subjects: people whose parents are ethnic minorities; ethnic minorities; people living and studying in areas with especially difficult socio-economic conditions.
