German coach Thomas Tuchel and Bayern agreed to part ways at the end of the 2023-2024 season, despite having a contract until 2025.
Bayern announced the information this afternoon, February 21, after a meeting between CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen and coach Thomas Tuchel.
The German coach said he will try his best to help Bayern achieve the best results in the rest of the season. Meanwhile, Bayern wants to find a new direction with a different coach for the 2024-2025 season.

Tuchel's position is in serious doubt after three consecutive defeats. In the Bundesliga, Bayern lost 0-3 to leaders Bayer Leverkusen and 2-3 to Bochum, leaving them eight points behind Leverkusen after 22 games. In the Champions League, Bayern lost 0-1 to Lazio in the first leg of the round of 16. However, the team still has a chance to advance when they host their opponents at home on March 6.
Three consecutive defeats have strained Tuchel's relationship with some Bayern players. The 59-year-old coach is said to have had an argument with vice-captain Joshua Kimmich. Tuchel's position at Bayern was under threat last season, but he retained his position thanks to winning the Bundesliga on the final day.
This season, Bayern has invested heavily to strengthen their squad with superstars Kim Min-jae, Harry Kane and most recently Eric Dier. However, the "Gray Tigers" are facing the risk of going empty-handed.
Currently, Xabi Alonso - the current coach of Leverkusen, and former Man Utd coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, and former Juventus coach Antonio Conte are considered strong candidates to replace Tuchel.
Tuchel was born in 1973 and did not achieve outstanding results as a player. But as a coach, he impressed at Mainz 05 from 2009 to 2014, then at Dortmund, PSG, Chelsea, and Bayern. In the Champions League, Tuchel finished second with PSG in 2020 and won with Chelsea in 2021. In addition, he has won Ligue 1 twice and the Bundesliga once.
