Once a wild coastal area full of mangroves, Tien An (Quang Yen Town) has been renovated, developed and built into a fertile land by many generations, one of the largest "vegetable granaries" in the province.
4km east of Quang Yen town center, Tien An has the appearance of a coastal midland commune. Few people know that this is a land with a long history, with people living there more than 1,000 years ago. During the feudal period, Tien An consisted of only 3 villages, then merged to form the place name La Khe village and then continued to change to La Khe commune during the reign of King Minh Mang (1831). In 1963, Quang Ninh province was born, at that time, Tien An belonged to Yen Hung district (Quang Ninh province).

Since 1948, the place name Tien An has been clearly identified, although there have been changes in administrative boundaries through the stages associated with the process of land reclamation and sea encroachment of Quang Yen Town. In December 1995, the Government issued a Decree dividing the large Tien An into: Tan An and Tien An. Of which, Tien An has 16 villages. In November 2011, the Prime Minister issued a Resolution approving the establishment of Quang Yen Town, Tien An is one of 19 communes and wards of Quang Yen Town.
Tien An used to be a wild marshland and mangrove area, so the pioneers had to work hard to reclaim the land, build dams to prevent saltwater intrusion, and turn it into a fertile, rich and beautiful land. Therefore, the people here are also hard-working, diligent, resilient and very passionate about their homeland and country. They actively participated in uprisings; resistance against the French (1946-1954); contributed human and material resources in the resistance against the US as well as the Southwestern and Northern border wars... With that contribution, Tien An was awarded the Third Class Resistance Medal (1959), a Certificate of Merit from the Government (1977) and many other titles.
"Continuing tradition, we always pay attention to promoting the full potential, strengths and valuable qualities of Tien An land and people. From there, we orient the construction and development of socio-economics, improve people's lives, the appearance of the countryside, and make Tien An increasingly dynamic and progressive" - Mr. To Duy Tong, Secretary of the Commune Party Committee, shared.

With that orientation, Tien An strives to rise up, focusing on socio-economic development, building new rural areas to change the face, and increase people's income. To achieve this goal, the commune has done a good job of economic restructuring, developing diverse industries, small-scale industries, construction, trade and services, transportation, agriculture, forestry and fishery...
In 2023, the total product value of the commune reached over 686 billion VND; in the first 9 months of this year, it reached nearly 592 billion VND, contributing to the growth rate of the commune reaching over 19%. Up to now, the commune has 8 enterprises and 1 cooperative, over 668 production and service establishments...
At the same time, Tien An also knows how to take advantage of land and cultivated area as a strength to develop production and change the face of the countryside. As a large specialized vegetable production area, up to now, Tien An has a total vegetable growing area of over 1,000 hectares. Of which, over 170 hectares are for growing safe vegetables.
In addition to actively investing in projects such as canals, ditches, electricity, roads, etc., the commune pays special attention to transforming farming models, growing safe vegetables, cultivating according to VietGAP processes, innovating new varieties of plants with high economic value; effectively implementing the product linkage model associated with the consumption of key agricultural products. In addition, the commune encourages local people and businesses to actively apply science and technology to production to increase product value, such as: greenhouses, drip irrigation systems, automatic fertilization systems, etc.
Up to now, the commune is one of the largest vegetable granaries in the province and the largest in Quang Yen town. The commune has many greenhouse models for growing hydroponic vegetables and safe vegetables of high quality; especially many models for growing custard apples and Taiwanese custard apples in Chay and Gieng Da gardens... promising high income.

Not only that, in the process of building new rural areas, Tien An also invested heavily in traffic infrastructure, concretizing 100% of village roads, alley roads and intra-field roads; promoting administrative reform, digital transformation, e-government; promoting cultural, social, educational and health activities; caring for poor and near-poor households, vulnerable groups, policy beneficiaries, and meritorious people...
The appearance of Tien An rural commune is now changing, becoming more and more prosperous. Currently Tien An is gradually completing urbanization criteria to build a commune into a ward before 2025; continuing to strive to further improve people's income.
