From village school to full scholarship to Korea of ​​9X female student

(Dan Tri) - Growing up in Yen Mo (Ninh Binh), Dinh Thuy Quynh never thought about studying abroad. After working for 2-3 years, she felt she needed to go further, so she decided to apply for a full scholarship from the Korean Government (KGSP).

From a stable job to a desire for personal development

Dinh Thuy Quynh (born in 1999) is a former student of Yen Mo A High School (Ninh Binh). Thanks to her hard work, she was admitted to the Korean Language and Culture Department, University of Foreign Languages ​​- Vietnam National University, Hanoi and after 4 years of study, she graduated with honors.

After graduating, she worked for a foreign company with a stable salary. However, as she gradually got used to the working environment, she realized that to advance in her career, she needed to improve her knowledge and skills.

"After working for a while, there were times when I felt quite pressured by work and I always thought, what if my Korean was better? I wanted to step out into the world and learn new knowledge to broaden my professional development thinking," Quynh shared.

Thinking is doing, Quynh started preparing for studying abroad while there was not much time.

Quynh had to manage on her own, working full-time at the company while preparing scholarship application documents, with a tight deadline.

In the evenings after work, she was absorbed in books, preparing documents such as main essays, supplementary essays, and study and work plans.

Thuy Quynh carefully chose 2 to 3 schools to apply to. For her, writing the essay was the most "brain-wrenching" part because both essays were limited to 3 A4 pages. Throughout the entire application process, she had to write to show the admissions committee her personality.

"The scholarship application consists of two main essays: self-introduction and study plan. In the self-introduction, I wrote about my personal development process with Korean from the end of high school until I started working.

In the study plan, I think the second part is the most important part. In this part, I state the reason for choosing the school and have to learn about the orientation, strengths, and teaching plan of the school and the department I intend to apply to in order to write a study plan for each specific semester within 2 school years," the 9X girl said.

Sharing more about the essay writing process, Quynh confided: "4 years ago, I had the opportunity to receive a one-year exchange scholarship in Korea and I found that time helped me a lot in winning the Government scholarship. It was like the "main spice" for my scholarship application essay."

Sweet results

After a month of tireless efforts, Quynh finally received an acceptance letter with a full scholarship from the Korean Government. The Ninh Binh female student excelled over hundreds of strong competitors to be in the top 15 scholarship recipients.

The program allows her to study for a 2-year Master's degree in Korean language at Sogang University - one of the top schools in Korea. The scholarship not only covers tuition but also supports all living expenses and airfare, worth more than 1 billion VND.

"It is very difficult to get a scholarship, the competition is fierce, I was lucky to overcome domestic competitors to win the scholarship. This scholarship helps me focus completely on studying and researching, something I could not do if I only relied on my own finances," Quynh shared.

When applying for studying abroad, besides having an impressive essay, Thuy Quynh was also very confident in the interview. During the interview, Thuy Quynh encountered questions related to her studies, the issues she wrote in her essay.

The girl from Ninh Binh shared: "First of all, you have to feel comfortable, consider the interview as a conversation with the jury and you are just sharing your thoughts and wishes.

Second, you should also research and prepare in advance the content that may be asked and write down the main ideas. You should only take brief notes, not write a long paragraph and memorize it."

Currently, Thuy Quynh has been in Korea for more than 2 months and is adapting to the Master's program. The curriculum of the department is a bit heavy for foreign students, so when she first enrolled, Thuy Quynh sometimes felt pressured.

From her own experience, Quynh draws out the secrets when conquering a full scholarship from the Korean Government: "It is important to orient yourself early, carefully researching scholarship programs. Preparing well in terms of knowledge and skills such as transcripts and foreign language certificates is very important. Regularly participate in extracurricular activities, and when you encounter difficulties, do not be discouraged, always try, do not give up".

In the near future, Thuy Quynh still wants to continue to study well, play well and experience many new things in the beautiful country of Korea. After graduating, she wants to stay in Korea for 1-2 years to experience a professional working environment.
