This afternoon, February 10, when Tuoi Tre Online contacted UMT about developments after the temporary suspension of Dr. Nguyen Tra Giang's work and position, the school confirmed: "Since February 10, Ms. Nguyen Tra Giang no longer works or holds the position of lecturer and director of the Institute of Sports Science and Management of UMT. Any actions of Ms. Giang do not represent or relate to the school."
At the same time, Tuoi Tre Online also contacted Dr. Giang but she did not comment and did not agree to provide more information about this incident.
Previously, on the afternoon of January 6, the principal of UMT issued a decision to temporarily suspend the work and position of Dr. Nguyen Tra Giang - director of the UMT Institute of Sports Science and Management, for 15 days (from January 7 to January 21).
According to Dr. Nguyen Tra Giang, after issuing the above decision, on the evening of January 7, UMT University issued a press release about temporarily suspending her work and position as dean of the school because there were many accusations, the school needed to verify the incident.
"The school's prohibition of me from teaching or contacting students and parents without clarifying the matter is very rude, inappropriate for an educational institution, and against the provisions of the current Labor Code," said Ms. Giang.

Also according to Dr. Nguyen Tra Giang, from December 16, 2024, she sent a request to UMT to pay scientific research remuneration exceeding the target from publishing the book A Unified System Fitness Design (USFD) because specifically according to UMT lecturer regulations, in which the equivalent conversion, the book USFD is counted as 26,325 working hours.
"Preliminary calculations show that the two authors Nguyen Tra Giang and Oliver Napila Gomez will be able to receive 1.8 billion VND. However, up to now, the school has not had any official response about the expected time of payment of this remuneration. On January 6, I unexpectedly received a decision to temporarily suspend from the school," Ms. Giang added.
Meanwhile, on the evening of January 9, a representative of UMT School affirmed that the decision to temporarily suspend Ms. Nguyen Tra Giang from work and position was made by the school in accordance with the provisions of the labor regulations, the provisions of the 2019 Labor Code and guiding documents for implementation.
At the same time, the school said that it had received Ms. Giang's complaint about the temporary suspension decision and was processing it in accordance with the legal procedures for complaints in the field of labor. The school said that Ms. Giang's information that the school owed the above amount was baseless.
In another related development, on November 24, 2024, Dr. Nguyen Tra Giang launched the book USFD. However, immediately after that, Mr. Oliver Napila Gomez (Philippines) - co-author of the above book - sent an email to UMT School, and posted a series of accusations on social networks, saying: "I am the sole author of the book USFD".
In response to this incident, author Nguyen Tra Giang sent a petition to the authorities, affirming: "I am the main author of the book USFD, published by Routledge. Mr. Oliver Napila Gomez is the co-author, who is targeting me to blackmail me by slandering me on social networks because of personal hatred due to losing his job at UMT."
