Memorial service and burial of remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers who died in Laos

In the first phase of searching and collecting martyrs' remains in the 2023 - 2024 dry season, the Martyrs' Grave Collection Team of Military Region 2 searched for and collected 11 martyrs' remains in villages in Nam Bac and Muong Ngoi districts, Luang Prabang province (Laos) in the last months of the 2023 dry season. Of the 11 martyrs, 8 had full information, 3 had unknown information.

In accordance with the wishes of relatives and families, the 8 martyrs with full information were handed over by the authorities of Military Region 2 and Dien Bien province and coordinated with the provinces of Phu Tho, Lang Son, Bac Giang, Hoa Binh, and Ha Nam to organize burials in their hometowns. The remains of three martyrs with incomplete information were determined by the Military Region 2 Martyrs' Grave Collection Team, with 2 remains belonging to officers and soldiers of Regiment 174, Division 316; one remains has not been identified. The People's Committee of Dien Bien province will organize a solemn burial at Tong Khao Cemetery for the martyrs with incomplete information according to military rites.

Expressing deep gratitude to the heroic martyrs who fought bravely and sacrificed for the noble international duty, on behalf of the provincial leaders, Comrade Vu A Bang, Vice Chairman of the Dien Bien Provincial People's Committee expressed his infinite condolences and gratitude to the heroic martyrs who sacrificed heroically for the noble international duty. At the same time, he expressed sincere gratitude to the Lao Party, State and people of all ethnic groups for their best feelings, considering the Vietnamese volunteer soldiers as their own children, protecting them, fighting side by side and winning.

The Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Dien Bien province expressed his deep gratitude to the Military Region 2 Martyrs' Grave Collection Team for overcoming all difficulties, traveling day and night to search for comrades, collecting and bringing the remains of the martyrs back to the Fatherland safely and thoughtfully over long distances. He also thanked the Special Working Group of the Lao PDR Government and the leaders of the Northern Lao provinces for their love and responsibility in coordinating the search and sending off the Vietnamese volunteer soldiers to their homeland, to their motherland Vietnam.

In a solemn and respectful atmosphere, the delegates and the people respectfully offered incense and flowers and observed a minute of silence to express their deep gratitude to the heroic martyrs. Before the souls of the martyrs, the Party Committee, government, army and people of all ethnic groups in Dien Bien province vow to raise high the flag of national independence and socialism, continue to carry out the renovation process, and lead the country steadily forward on the revolutionary path of the Party and beloved President Ho Chi Minh. At the same time, promote the international spirit, constantly consolidate and cultivate the special friendship and solidarity between Vietnam and Laos; unite and be determined to build the province to become increasingly prosperous, firmly protect the Fatherland's borders; well implement the military and military rear policies, worthy of the heroic Dien Bien Phu tradition.
