On February 11, at the United Nations headquarters in New York, the United States, the 10th Anniversary of International Women's Day in Science and Technology took place to honor the efforts of women around the world to overcome difficulties and challenges to realize their aspiration to reach far into space.
The event was co-organized by the UN Secretary-General's Bright Spotlight on Gender Equality Initiative and the Polish Delegation, with the participation of many representatives of UN member countries and international female astronauts, including Ms. Amanda Nguyen - who may soon become the first Vietnamese woman to fly into space.

Speaking on behalf of the Asia-Pacific region, Ambassador Dang Hoang Giang, Head of the Permanent Mission of Vietnam to the United Nations, emphasized that women's progress requires respect for equality, diversity and inclusion, as well as empowerment so that women can not only participate but also play a leadership role, promote innovation and create momentum for meaningful change.
The Vietnamese representative said that in the context that women in many parts of the world are still victims of conflict, violence and discrimination, in order to contribute to building a fairer and more prosperous future for all, the international community needs to make efforts to promote and take action to remove barriers and create a favorable environment for women and girls to participate and contribute more to science.

On this occasion, Ambassador Dang Hoang Giang highlighted Vietnam's efforts and achievements in gender equality, creating equal opportunities for women to participate and contribute in all areas of social life, especially in science, innovation and creativity.
Amanda Nguyen’s overcoming of adversity to realize her dream of becoming the first Vietnamese woman to fly into space is a living testament to the intelligence, capacity and bravery of Vietnamese women. Vietnam is committed to working with the international community to further promote gender equality and empower women to realize their full potential and turn their ambitions and aspirations into reality.
