New recruit Mua Huy Tuan prepares his belongings before leaving for military service.
Rookie Mua Huy Tuan confided that he was born and raised in a family where his father and brother both work in the police force, so since he was a child he has been fascinated by the police uniform and his dream of becoming a People's Police officer has grown even stronger.
In 2020, after graduating from high school with not-so-good math results, Tuan was not confident enough to take the entrance exam to the Police Academy. Putting that dream aside, Tuan decided to choose the Faculty of Economic Law, Dai Nam University to study. During his last two years of university, Tuan studied and applied for jobs at law offices in Hanoi. According to Tuan, this will be a stepping stone for him to accumulate experience and find a stable job in the capital after graduation.
In 2024, Tuan graduated from university with a bachelor's degree in Law with a good degree, opening up many job opportunities for the 23-year-old man. However, at the end of 2024, when he learned that the Ministry of Public Security was recruiting citizens to perform military service, Tuan did not hesitate to volunteer to join the army with the desire to contribute his youth to serve the Fatherland.
After passing 3 preliminary rounds, on the day he received the decision to join the army, Tuan was happy because his dream had come true. "Wearing the People's Police uniform is a great honor and pride. Therefore, I am determined to study and train in the police environment. Although I know that the upcoming time entering the army will face many difficulties and challenges, I am always optimistic and determined to strive to train well to become more mature in the new environment" - Tuan shared.
Before his son officially enlisted, Mr. Mua A Do (new soldier Mua Huy Tuan's father) always took time to comfort and encourage his son with the hope that, in the new environment, Tuan would study and train well, demonstrate his bravery and intelligence, and become a good citizen, useful to society.
About 25 km from the new recruit Tuan's house, young teacher Quang Van Son (born in 1999, Thai ethnic, residing in Na Lao village, Na Tau commune, Dien Bien Phu city) is also eagerly waiting for the day to leave to perform his duty as a People's Public Security officer.
Quang Van Son confided that in 2021, after graduating from the History Pedagogy Department of Tay Bac University, he worked at Nam Po District Boarding High School for Ethnic Minorities. However, with his childhood dream of becoming a Fire Prevention, Fire Fighting and Rescue Police officer, Son decided to put aside his teaching duties, wrote a volunteer application, and volunteered to join the People's Public Security.
After receiving a health check, political assessment, and news of his admission, Son was very happy. "No one in my family studies the Public Security sector. However, I really love it and want to become a People's Public Security officer. The Public Security environment is a place for me to practice my courage, discipline, order, health, and become more mature," Son shared.
In the 2025 military recruitment campaign, the majority of citizens in Dien Bien province who passed the military service and the People's Public Security have a secondary school education or higher; many of them have university and college degrees.
According to Senior Lieutenant Pham Ngoc Chinh, Department of Personnel Organization, Dien Bien Provincial Police, the rate of citizens with university, college and junior high school degrees registering to perform their duty to join the Public Security force in 2025 is higher than in previous years. This is a good thing, reflecting the quality of citizens performing their duty to join the People's Public Security continues to improve; synonymous with the policy of building a truly clean, strong, disciplined, elite and modern People's Public Security force is correct, meeting the requirements and tasks of ensuring security and order in the new situation.
On February 15, thousands of outstanding citizens of Dien Bien province will enlist in the army. Among them, not only Mua Huy Tuan or Quang Van Son temporarily put aside their personal interests, but also many other young people in the heroic land of Dien Bien Phu are ready to "put down their pens and ink" to follow the sacred call of the Fatherland, contributing to preserving the traditions of their ancestors.
