On the morning of February 15, at the Vietnam National Village for Ethnic Culture and Tourism (Dong Mo, Son Tay, Hanoi), the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism organized the "Spring Colors in All Regions of the Country" Spring At Ty 2025 Festival, to introduce the unique cultural features and customs of 54 ethnic groups across the country.
On behalf of the Party and State leaders, President Luong Cuong attended cultural activities and wished a happy New Year to the Vietnamese ethnic community.
Also attending were Politburo members, Party Central Committee Secretaries: Do Van Chien, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front; Nguyen Trong Nghia, Head of the Central Propaganda and Education Commission; Party Central Committee members: Le Thanh Long, Deputy Prime Minister; Nguyen Thi Thanh, Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly; and representatives of leaders of a number of central ministries and branches.
The festival "Spring colors in all regions of the country" is held annually to honor the traditional cultural values of Vietnamese ethnic groups, contributing to strengthening the great national unity of the community of 54 ethnic groups, bringing the traditional Tet atmosphere to serve tourists in the first days of Spring at the Vietnam National Village for Ethnic Culture and Tourism.
This year's festival has the participation of more than 200 people, including representatives of village elders, outstanding village chiefs, intellectuals, and artisans of 28 ethnic communities, 29 mobilized communities from 14 provinces representing ethnic groups and regions, including ethnic minorities such as: Si La, Khang, Ha Nhi, Cong (Lai Chau), Lo Lo, Bo Y, Pa Then, La Chi (Ha Giang). In addition, there are ethnic groups currently operating in the Village such as: Dao, Tay, Nung, Muong, Thai, Lao, Kho Mu, Mong, Ba Na, Gia Rai, Xo Dang, E De, Khmer, Raglai, Ta Oi, and Co Tu.
Speaking at the Festival, President Luong Cuong expressed his joy at attending the "Spring Colors Across the Country" Festival of the Year of the Snake 2025 - an annual event organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism at the Vietnam Ethnic Culture and Tourism Village, a place that contributes to the convergence and connection of ethnic groups, a place to preserve, promote and spread the traditional and unique cultural values of ethnic groups in the great family of Vietnamese ethnic groups.
Stating that Vietnam is a multi-ethnic country, each ethnic group has its own unique, rich and distinctive cultural values, creating a cultural picture that is both diverse and highly unified, reflecting the creativity and mettle of the Vietnamese people through historical periods, the President emphasized that one of the most important values of the traditional culture of 54 ethnic groups is the spirit of great solidarity and mutual love, which has created endogenous strength and is the foundation to help the Vietnamese people overcome all difficulties and challenges throughout the history of building, defending the country, and fighting for national liberation in the past, as well as in the cause of building, developing the country and firmly protecting the Vietnamese Fatherland today.
The President highly appreciated the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism's proactive coordination with central and local departments, ministries and branches to organize many cultural events of profound political significance at the Vietnam National Village for Ethnic Culture and Tourism. In particular, converging at the "Common House" with traditional cultural and artistic activities, representative intangible cultural heritage of humanity, national intangible cultural heritage; unique and colorful rituals and festivals vividly formed in the flow of ethnic cultures, have highlighted the diverse beauty of Vietnamese culture, thereby continuing to affirm and spread the vitality of traditional cultural values of ethnic groups in development, exchange, integration and international cooperation.
Affirming that the “Spring Colors Across the Country” Festival is not only a Spring celebration event, but also a meaningful cultural and political activity, the President said that this is an opportunity for every Vietnamese citizen to review, preserve and deepen national cultural values, thereby further strengthening solidarity, enhancing understanding and accompanying each other in the cause of national construction and development.
On behalf of the Party and State leaders, the President commended the efforts of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, central and local ministries and branches, and ethnic communities for having many initiatives, maintaining and developing activities at the Vietnam Ethnic Culture and Tourism Village in the heart of Hanoi so that people and tourists can admire the unique cultural beauty of each ethnic group, in the big family of the Vietnamese ethnic community.
The President pointed out that building the great national unity bloc is a strategic and consistent task of special importance for our Party and State, throughout the revolutionary process and in the new period, aiming to bring the country to rapid and sustainable development in the new era - the era of striving for strong, prosperous development of the nation.
The President emphasized that the traditional culture of 54 ethnic groups is an invaluable asset, an extremely valuable resource for us to build a strong Vietnam. Thanks to the diversity and richness of our culture, together with the spirit of solidarity and mutual love, we have overcome all difficulties and challenges to achieve great achievements in the cause of national development and firmly defending the Vietnamese Fatherland.
The President noted that all levels, sectors, and mass organizations from the central to local levels need to continue to research, promulgate, and effectively implement ethnic policies, ensuring the rights and improving the material and spiritual lives of ethnic people; at the same time, have effective solutions to protect and continue to promote the traditional cultural values of ethnic communities, preserving the unique cultural beauty of each ethnic group. In particular, it is necessary to pay special attention to honoring and respecting the important contributions of artisans, village elders, village chiefs, and prestigious people among ethnic people.
The President suggested that localities should continue to focus on directing and organizing closely and effectively the implementation of national target programs to support socio-economic development, especially rural infrastructure, improve the quality of life for people, and have specific and practical solutions and jobs to increase income and improve the material and spiritual life of ethnic minorities. At the same time, localities need to care for education, culture, health care, social welfare, pay more attention to the issue of training cadres and jobs for young people, be proactive and active in contributing to continuing to improve policies for ethnic minorities, creating more favorable conditions for them to participate more deeply and effectively in the overall development process of the country.
In the joyful atmosphere of the first day of the Spring festival, the President hopes that all compatriots, comrades, cadres and soldiers of the armed forces will devote all their strength and enthusiasm, through concrete and practical actions, to contributing to the common cause of the country, creating cohesion, fostering the great national unity bloc, contributing to cultivating Vietnamese culture, Vietnamese strength, Vietnamese values - a strong endogenous resource for national development.
On this occasion, the President presented gifts to representatives of ethnic groups attending the "Spring Colors Festival across the country". Representatives of ethnic groups also brought unique cultural products of their ethnic groups to respectfully present to the President.
Next, the President attended the tower opening ceremony and incense offering ceremony at the Cham tower in Ninh Thuan province. The tower opening ceremony, also known as Peh Bi mbeng yang, is a traditional Cham ceremony held annually at the Cham tower to offer offerings to the gods of the tower for favorable weather, good health for the villagers, permission to open the temple, build dams, and prepare for plowing.
After the tower opening ceremony, outside the ceremony yard, there were traditional dances associated with the tower temple of the Cham people, along with the sounds of Ginang drums, Paranung drums, Saranai trumpets...
Visiting the Muong ethnic village, the President attended the Khai Ha Festival of the Muong ethnic group. This is a traditional festival associated with wet rice agricultural production, bearing many imprints of ancient Vietnamese civilization; it is an indispensable cultural and religious activity of the Muong people in Hoa Binh every spring. The festival is meant to respect the gods, commemorate those who have contributed to the establishment of the land and the Muong, and pray for favorable development of all things, bountiful crops, a prosperous and happy life, and good things for the people and villages. In 2022, the Khai Ha Festival of the Muong ethnic group in Hoa Binh province was recognized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism as a national intangible cultural heritage.
After that, the President beat the Khai Ha drum and performed the first plowing ceremony in the Going to the Fields Festival to open the new production season, starting a year of favorable weather and bountiful crops. The President and delegates also planted souvenir trees and joined in the “Spring Festival of Muong Village” to the sounds of gongs and five-tone music.
