As one of the 'famous' international schools in Ho Chi Minh City, Saigon Pearl has just surprised everyone when it announced that it will stop operating in 2025.

On the morning of February 15, speaking with Tuoi Tre Online , a representative of Saigon Pearl International School (ISSP) confirmed this. Before that, the school had also sent an official notice to parents and school staff.
Specifically, a representative of Saigon Pearl International School explained that "it has been facing a challenging and changing context. Although the school has made continuous efforts to adapt to the decline in enrollment, the current number of students is much lower than the school's forecast."
Although the school has tried very hard, this difficult situation still cannot be improved.
A representative of Saigon Pearl said it would "not be able to continue operating the school." The school is expected to close at the end of this school year.
"The last day of school will be June 19, 2025, and the last working day of the school will be July 19, 2025," said a representative of Saigon Pearl International School.
The school added that its top priority at this time is to support parents and students to adapt to the transition process. The school is committed to supporting all ISSP students to transfer and enroll at its sister school, the International School of Ho Chi Minh City (ISHCMC), with tuition fees equivalent to ISSP for 2 years from August 2025.
As for ISHCMC, this international school can currently accept all ISSP students from 2 to 10 years old. The advantage is that ISHCMC also teaches the IB program (PYP) similar to ISSP, so Saigon Pearl believes that the transition process will be smooth and favorable.
Saigon Pearl International School is informing parents to confirm their transfer wishes within one week of receiving the school's letter.
“We will have a dedicated team to support parents in the process of transferring to ISHCMC or finding other international schools that suit their family’s wishes. This dedicated team will support all aspects of the transfer process, including admission, curriculum and school life.
We will also try our best to prioritize the students' mental health, creating every opportunity for them to maintain the valuable friendships they have built during their time at ISSP," said a school representative.
International schools support teachers in finding new jobs
On the teachers' side, a representative of Saigon Pearl International School said that they are looking for new job positions for teachers and school staff at other educational institutions in the same system, in Vietnam as well as Asia.
The HR department is meeting with teachers and school staff to listen to each person's thoughts and wishes in order to provide the best possible support.
At the same time, the school provides financial support for teachers and school staff to register for accounts and use job portals, through which they can receive job search consulting support.
"The school also organized 1:1 meetings to answer questions from teachers and staff surrounding this incident," said a representative of Saigon Pearl International School.
International School Saigon Pearl (ISSP) is a monolingual international school for children from 18 months to 11 years old, located in Binh Thanh District, Ho Chi Minh City. The school is a member of the Cognita Education Group, with more than 100 member schools worldwide.
ISSP is fully accredited by the Council of International Schools (CIS) and the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC), and is licensed to teach the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IB PYP).
Currently, ISSP is teaching students from over 20 different countries.
