Hot school in Hanoi stops direct admission to grade 10

Nguyen Tat Thanh Secondary and High School (Hanoi National University of Education) has just announced enrollment information for grades 6 and 10, school year 2025-2026.

For grade 6 , the school recruits 320 students (an increase of 50 students compared to last year), through assessment of 3 subjects: Math (45 minutes), Vietnamese (45 minutes), English (30 minutes) in the form of objective multiple choice tests combined with essays. The test content is mainly from the grade 5 program.

Competency assessment score = Math score + Vietnamese score + English score + incentive score (if any).

The school will hold an aptitude test on May 31, with a fee of VND400,000/application. The benchmark scores and admission instructions will be announced on June 10.

For grade 10, the school recruits 440 students (an increase of 40 students compared to last year). Students applying must achieve a Good or higher level in study and a Good or higher level in training in all 4 years of junior high school; achieve an average score of 6.5 or higher in the 3 subjects of grade 9 in Math, Literature, and English.

This year, the school will enroll 10th graders through a single method of taking an entrance exam in 3 subjects: Math (90 minutes), Literature (120 minutes), and English (60 minutes), mainly covering the 9th grade curriculum.

In which, Literature is tested in essay form. The remaining two subjects are in the form of objective test combined with essay. The school announced the 10th grade entrance exam schedule on June 14 and on June 26, the benchmark score will be announced, the fee is 450,000 VND/application.

Entrance exam score = Literature score + Math score + English score.

Thus, compared to last year, this year the school has abandoned the direct admission method (for candidates who won first prize in excellent student competitions at the provincial/municipal level in Math, Chemistry, Physics, Literature, English, and Science) and considered the results of the 10th grade public entrance exam of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, leaving only the school's own entrance exam method.

The official benchmark score for entering grade 10 in the 2024-2025 school year at Nguyen Tat Thanh Secondary and High School is 20.25 points.
