Bac Tra My District Medical Center deploys diagnostic gastrointestinal endoscopy technique

Implementing Project 1816 on supporting lower-level hospitals to improve the quality of medical examination and treatment, Quang Nam General Hospital has provided professional support and transferred endoscopic techniques to Bac Tra My District Medical Center.

Doctors at Quang Nam General Hospital have instructed the center’s staff and doctors on the implementation of the new technique “Diagnostic Gastrointestinal Endoscopy”. On the first day, the team performed gastric and duodenal endoscopy on 5 patients. To date, local doctors have independently performed this technique.

Gastrointestinal endoscopy is the most commonly used minimally invasive procedure today to examine the health of the digestive tract. Endoscopy is used for both diagnosis and treatment of gastrointestinal diseases such as: bleeding, obstruction, perforation, inflammation, ulcers, polyps, cancer.

The implementation of endoscopy technique contributes to increasing efficiency and reducing costs in examination, diagnosis and treatment of gastrointestinal diseases for people in Bac Tra My district.
