On October 8, Li Ming, a spokesman for the China Agency for International Development Cooperation, said in a statement that as fighting escalated recently, explosions and airstrikes "occurred in many places in Lebanon, causing many casualties."
"At the request of the Lebanese government, the Chinese government has decided to provide urgent humanitarian medical supplies to Lebanon to help Lebanon carry out medical assistance," the statement said.

Earlier on October 5, the US also announced that it would provide humanitarian aid worth nearly $157 million to support conflict-affected communities in Lebanon and the surrounding region.
The aid will address the needs of refugees and internally displaced people, as well as support communities hosting them in Lebanon. It will also be provided to those fleeing to Syria.
Lebanon is facing one of the world’s largest humanitarian crises due to Israel’s war and other regional conflicts. It is currently hosting around 1.5 million Syrian refugees, putting huge pressure on its infrastructure, public services and economy.
Hezbollah fired rockets at Haifa, Israel's third-largest city, and Israel appeared poised to expand its attack into Lebanon on October 7, a year after Hamas' devastating attack on Israel sparked the Gaza conflict.
The focus of the war has increasingly shifted to northern Lebanon, where Israeli forces have been exchanging fire with Hezbollah since the group launched a barrage of rockets in support of Hamas on October 8.
