The exhibition "Ceramic Invitation Cards" brings together 42 famous artists

The event, curated by artist Le Thiet Cuong, gathered 42 famous artists to honor the talented writer through unique works of art created by him and other artists.

During his lifetime, writer Nguyen Huy Thiep loved painting, especially ceramic painting. He liked to paint on Bat Trang ceramics. One of the unique characteristics in his literary works from short stories, novels, poems to plays is the sharp, short dialogues, full of hidden meanings, sparkling with double-sided symbols. This suggests a lot for the form and he brought it into his ceramic works.

He often draws portraits of friends, redraws from impressions in memories, memories of special events that happened in life as a way to save milestones of time. And he calls it a way of talking to memories. Interestingly, he always keeps handwritten sentences, poems, proverbs of his predecessors or of himself that he feels satisfied and satisfied with, suitable for his ceramic works.

Nguyen Huy Thiep started painting on ceramics in 1993. His works mark a rich and impressive creative journey.

A son of writer Nguyen Huy Thiep, shared: “My father’s literary works have inspired many visual arts. When we discussed the plan to exhibit ceramic works with artist Le Thiet Cuong, he was very supportive and happily accepted to be the curator. And we organized this event with the desire to honor and remember our beloved father.”

For the first time, art lovers will be able to enjoy a ceramic exhibition space (vases, plates), with works inspired by sentences/poems in the writer's short stories in large numbers. The event brings together many works by 42 famous artists such as: Le Thiet Cuong, Dinh Quan, Dao Hai Phong, Dang Xuan Hoa, Ngo Phuong Binh, Ly Tran Quynh Giang, Le Thi Minh Tam, Nguyen Thu Thuy... based on inspiration from sentences in the literary works, poems, plays... of writer Nguyen Huy Thiep.

Artist Le Thiet Cuong said, this is the first time we have had an event that has gathered the largest number of people in a program that we have ever organized. Each artist has a different inspiration, some draw based on the plot or the plot of the story, some draw based on suggestions from the dialogue of the characters or even the story title, and there are even artists who write a whole piece of their favorite work on a ceramic plate...

Each person has a different voice, even though it is only Bat Trang blue-white ceramic, monochromatic but still multi-tonal and multi-colored. They can also be considered candles commemorating the 75th birthday of writer Nguyen Huy Thiep.

In Hanoi, the exhibition "Ceramic Invitations" will take place at 10am on April 4 and end on April 20 at the Cultural and Art Center 22 Hang Buom, Hoan Kiem, Hanoi.
