From July 1 to August 30, 2024, the interdisciplinary patrol and inspection team of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Provincial Police, and the Border Guard Command of Quang Tri province will coordinate to deploy a peak period of patrolling, inspecting, controlling and handling violations of illegal fishing activities in 2024 in coastal and offshore waters, the estuaries of Cua Viet, Cua Tung and at fishing ports of Quang Tri province.
Accordingly, the authorities will coordinate closely, grasp the situation of illegal fishing vessels, organize inspections of fishing vessels at high risk of violating foreign waters; vessels violating maritime laws such as: vessels exploiting the wrong waters, not maintaining the fishing vessel monitoring signal during operations at sea, not having the required documents and certificates.
Inspect compliance with regulations on combating illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing at fishing ports, focusing on the following contents: recording and submitting fishing logs; notifying the fishing port management board 1 hour in advance of the time fishing vessels arrive and leave the port.
Check fishing vessels docking at ports to unload aquatic products and leave ports for fishing; 15m vessels complying with designated ports; fishing vessels operating without required documents; check lead seals on voyage monitoring devices; check the vessel monitoring system (VMS) when vessels dock and leave ports for fishing. At the same time, strictly handle administrative violations in the fisheries sector, especially fishing vessels violating the VMS system.
Through patrols, inspections and controls, we aim to promptly detect and correct organizations and individuals who do not comply with regulations on combating illegal exploitation; detect, prevent and handle violations of illegal exploitation, especially violations of the VMS system.
