Martyr Tran Van Hoan was born in 1947, in a family with a revolutionary tradition in Van Phuc village, Truong Son commune, Duc Tho district.
Martyr Tran Van Hoan was the eldest of three siblings, born and raised during the period when the country was in the midst of a resistance war against foreign invaders. While the resistance war against the US was entering a fierce phase, in July 1965, he temporarily put down his pen and volunteered to join the resistance war at the C554-N55-P18 youth volunteer unit.

For nearly 4 years (from August 1964 to April 1968), the US imperialists focused on attacking National Highway 1A and National Highway 15A. Comrade Tran Van Hoan and his comrades maintained the traffic arteries serving the battlefield.
In January 1967, while transporting rocks with his teammates to fill bomb craters to ensure traffic for the battlefield, comrade Tran Van Hoan heroically sacrificed himself at Anh Quynh slope, Thach Ha district, Ha Tinh province.
In 1999, his family moved his grave to the family cemetery in Truong Son commune, Duc Tho district, Ha Tinh province.
After 58 years of sacrifice, due to the loss of documents and information due to the war, comrade Tran Van Hoan has been recognized as a martyr by the Party and the State. The Prime Minister issued Decision No. 437/QD-TTG dated February 26, 2025 on granting the "Fatherland's Gratitude" certificate to martyr Tran Van Hoan. This is an honor and pride for his family, clan, and hometown of Truong Son, Duc Tho district.
