Attending the groundbreaking ceremony were comrades: Tang Huu Phong, Deputy Head of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee; Tran The Thuan, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports; Nguyen Ngoc Hoi, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports. In addition, there was Dr. Quach Thu Nguyet, Ambassador of Reading Culture of Ho Chi Minh City, along with many leaders and people of District 7.

Nguyen Dong Chi Book Street is a project to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025) and the 28th anniversary of the establishment of District 7 (1997-2025), and at the same time, it is a continuation of the success of Ho Chi Minh City Book Street and Thu Duc City Book Street in developing a reading culture, aiming to expand the development of reading culture in the new urban area of South Saigon - Ho Chi Minh City.

Nguyen Dong Chi Book Street is designed as an integrated cultural space, connecting reading, technology experience, visual arts, street music, green cuisine and community activities. Here, when visiting, readers can find a book cafe space amidst cool green space, an interactive playground for children, art workshops, outdoor performances, an area to experience digital books and smart reading devices.
One of the notable highlights of the project is the integration of modern technology in a space imbued with traditional culture. The smart library applies modern VR, AI and IOT technology to help readers easily access good and new books, increase the initiative in choosing books according to their needs and the digital transformation area, the space to support startups and young creativity brings an open learning experience, encourages innovative thinking and access to knowledge in a flexible and modern way.

In addition, Nguyen Dong Chi Book Street is also a place to honor Vietnamese culture through exhibition spaces, art displays, promotion of regional specialties and Vietnamese brands. In particular, the book street is also committed to accompanying regular activities such as street art performances, music, and a series of periodic cultural events such as the International Book Festival, Ao Dai Festival, and the Three Regions Culinary Festival...


The scale of Nguyen Dong Chi Book Street includes: 1 space for the Smart Library; 1 area for the Space to support digital transformation and innovation startups combined with the office of the Book Street Management Board and 16 booths. The project is expected to be inaugurated and put into operation on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025).
