Ho Chi Minh City is bustling with year-end tourist season

Starting with the 4th Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Week from early December this year, the smokeless industry of the country's economic "locomotive" city will deploy a series of vibrant festival activities and cultural events throughout the year before, during and after the Lunar New Year 2025.

Stimulate demand with a chain of activities

Mr. Nguyen Van Dung - Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee said that during the tourism week, the city organized many cultural - artistic, sports, culinary activities, introduced new tours... The activities were diverse and exciting, attracting the attention of many domestic and international tourists. This year, Ho Chi Minh City's tourism industry chose its own direction, with specific characteristics to attract tourists. That is, each district and county chose a unique and attractive tourism product to keep tourists coming to their locality.

Notably, District 1 has chosen the Ben Thanh Market area to organize a tourism information space and the City Book Street area to organize an "urban imprint" exhibition and organize the HOZO Festival taking place in the Le Loi - Pasteur area to resonate with a series of events towards the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army.

On this occasion, Cu Chi district also organized lighting and landscape decoration and organized the “Cu Chi Guerrilla Cup Traditional Football Tournament”. In addition, it also organized a logo design contest “Cu Chi District 50 years of construction and development” along with an exhibition in response to Vietnam Cultural Heritage Day.

Localities with few tourism products such as District 5 and District 6 also launched the Cho Lon Food Story Festival with the theme “Delicious noodles and cakes”. At the architectural and artistic relic of Binh Tay Market (District 6), many culinary activities and art performances with strong Vietnamese-Chinese cultural identity and exchange were also organized.

In particular, in the series of tourism activities at the end of 2024, people and tourists coming to Ho Chi Minh City will also be able to visit and learn about the culture, tourism, history, and geography of each district in a lively and interesting way through the quiz game "applying AR technology" (augmented virtual reality). This is one of the new features demonstrating the efforts of the Ho Chi Minh City tourism industry in applying technology to promote and advertise tourism.

Not stopping at cultural, artistic activities and traditional festivals, Ho Chi Minh City takes advantage of putting into commercial operation the city's first urban railway line so that residents and tourists have the opportunity to experience the city's famous destinations such as Suoi Tien Cultural Tourism Area (Thu Duc City), Ben Thanh Market, City Post Office, City Theater.

Mr. Ngo Hai Duong - Head of Road Transport Management Department (HCMC Department of Transport) said that from the date Metro Line 1 begins commercial operation, 100% of ticket prices will be supported for passengers for 30 days. At the same time, bus tickets will be free for routes connecting Metro Line 1 from January 1, 2025 until the end of 100% ticket price support for train users. This is considered a stimulus program to attract more tourists to experience tourism products and services of HCMC at the end of the year.

Focus on tourism

With a series of tourism activities before, during and after the Lunar New Year 2025, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism has set many ambitions for the goal of attracting tourists and increasing revenue from the smokeless industry for the city budget. Ms. Nguyen Minh Bao Ngoc - Deputy Director of the Tourism Promotion Center (Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism) said that at the beginning of 2025, the city had plans to organize tourism promotion and advertising with many major activities. In particular, as usual, the city organized the "Program to welcome visitors to Ho Chi Minh City in early 2025". Then there was the 11th Ho Chi Minh City Ao Dai Festival and the launch of the 21st Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Festival.

According to Ms. Ngoc, in 2025, Ho Chi Minh City will participate in many regional and international foreign promotion groups, including the ASEAN Tourism Forum, the TRAVEX Fair in Malaysia and the Vietnam - Ho Chi Minh City tourism promotion program in Australia. To implement such a large volume of tourism and promotion activities, the Department of Tourism has planned to implement solutions to improve the quality of direction and operation, striving to complete the targets and tasks of developing the city's tourism industry.

With many such solutions, it is expected that the tourism industry in Ho Chi Minh City will open a new phase, developing more strongly and sustainably. In 2025 alone, the city's tourism industry will achieve the target of welcoming about 8,500,000 international visitors and 45,000,000 domestic tourists. From there, the city is determined to strive for a total tourism revenue of 260,000 billion VND next year.
