14 young citizens with many innovations and outstanding achievements in work, research, study... were honored by the city on the morning of January 1.
The ceremony to honor outstanding young citizens has been an annual activity of the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union on New Year's Day for the past 18 years. To date, the city has honored a total of 151 outstanding individuals who have made positive contributions to the development of the city and the country.
This year, in the field of science, young researchers have two outstanding examples from Ho Chi Minh City National University, including Dr. Ha Thi Thanh Huong, 34 years old, working at the International University and Associate Professor Dr. Le Thanh Long, 35 years old, lecturer at the University of Technology, with 35 published scientific research articles.
Dr. Huong researches areas related to brain health and applications from Alzheimer's research, stress, brain-computer interface systems to support stroke patients, research, and application of AI technology to support disease diagnosis and intervention for people.

The group of students, with 3 faces honored, includes: Le Minh Khang, 20 years old, University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Ho Chi Minh City, is a 5-good student at the city level, has many years of excellent academic achievements, won many awards in medical competitions at home and abroad...
Le Minh Duc, 18 years old, grade 12, Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted, won 5 awards at domestic and international competitions with a four-legged robot model to support search and rescue of people in landslide areas, inspired by the sacrifice of officers and soldiers who died while rescuing at Rao Trang Hydropower Plant in 2020. The special feature of this robot product is its unique duck feet design, which can move in the muddy areas of landslides.
Le Nam Long, 13 years old, 7th grade student at Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted, won many awards and gold medals in math competitions such as first prize in the Grand Final STEM Olympiad International.
In the field of labor, production, and outstanding civil servants, Mr. Nguyen Tran Anh Vu, 33 years old, Deputy Head of Organization and Personnel Department, Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction and Mr. Nguyen Hoang Duy Luu, 34 years old, Deputy Head of Plant and Livestock Research Department, Ho Chi Minh City High-Tech Agricultural Park Management Board were both honored.

Among the young entrepreneurs, one individual honored is Mr. Nguyen Hong Duy, 34 years old, director of Hallelu Chocolate Company Limited (Thu Duc City). Mr. Duy is considered one of the young people who confidently started a business, bringing Vietnamese agricultural products to the international market. His company has produced and processed cocoa and chocolate from cocoa.
In the field of national defense, security and armed forces, two examples were honored: Captain Vo Thi Bich Phuong, 31 years old, Deputy Head of the Youth Department of Ho Chi Minh City Police and Lieutenant Colonel Ngo Truong An, 34 years old, Deputy Political Commissar of Gia Dinh Regiment, City Command.
The program also honored two outstanding artists and athletes in the fields of culture, arts, and sports. Actress Huynh Thi Anh Thi, 34, works at the Ho Chi Minh City Opera House, and gymnast Nguyen Van Khanh, 22.
Two typical faces in the activities of the Youth Union - Young Pioneers - Association are teacher in charge of the Young Pioneers Luu Hoang Phuc, 32 years old, working at Lac Long Quan Primary School, District 11 and Huynh Anh Thu, 13 years old, Young Pioneers' Union Leader of Nguyen Du Secondary School, Go Vap District.
Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Phan Van Mai said that the examples honored for their achievements and efforts in studying, working and researching have spread positive energy to the community. "We try to fan the flames so that this spirit can spread to the working atmosphere in 2024," said Mr. Mai.
Quoting the example of a typical young citizen Le Minh Duc "realizing the dream of technology with love", Mr. Mai hopes that young people will always nurture their love for the city. "If it is not for the love of science, this city, this country, it will be difficult for us to realize our big dreams", Mr. Mai said.
The head of the city government requested that the Youth Union, Association and Team design activities related to the city's development requirements, connecting 151 typical citizens over the years and typical young people who love the city to contribute to the common development.
