Czech President appreciates traditional friendship with Vietnam

On March 4, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Duong Hoai Nam presented the letter of credentials of President Vo Van Thuong to President of the Czech Republic Petr Pavel.

The ceremony took place at the Presidential Palace of the Czech Republic in the capital Prague with solemn and respectful ceremony, with honor guard review.

At the reception following the Letter of Credentials Presentation Ceremony, President Petr Pavel congratulated Ambassador Duong Hoai Nam on being trusted by the Vietnamese leaders and appointed as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to the Czech Republic; believing that the Ambassador, with his enthusiasm and experience, will make positive contributions to promoting and bringing the Vietnam - Czech relationship to a new level of development, in-depth, substantive and effective. The President asked the Ambassador to convey his warm regards and best wishes to General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, President Vo Van Thuong and other senior leaders of Vietnam.

President Petr Pavel expressed his impression of Vietnam's important achievements in socio-economic development and international integration after nearly 40 years of Doi Moi. The President affirmed that he always attaches importance to and highly appreciates the traditional friendship and multi-faceted cooperation between Vietnam and the Czech Republic in recent times as well as the contributions of the Vietnamese community to the socio-economic development of the Czech Republic, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, leaving a good impression and great gratitude in the hearts of the Czech people.

In the context of Vietnam and the Czech Republic looking forward to the 75th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations (1950 - 2025), President Petr Pavel expressed his hope that the two sides will continue to make efforts to strengthen cooperation, especially in the fields of economy - trade - investment through effective coordination in implementing the Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) and the Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA) between Vietnam and the European Union; suggested that the two countries soon open direct flights to promote economic - trade relations, tourism and people-to-people exchange.

Ambassador Duong Hoai Nam expressed his great honor to be appointed as Ambassador of Vietnam to the beautiful Czech Republic, and conveyed the greetings of the Vietnamese high-ranking leaders to President Petr Pavel. The Ambassador sincerely thanked President Petr Pavel for his good feelings for Vietnam and his deep interest in the relationship between the two countries, as well as for the community of more than 100,000 Vietnamese people living, working and studying in the Czech Republic.

Ambassador Duong Hoai Nam affirmed that the Party, State and people of Vietnam always consider the Czech Republic as Vietnam's leading important partner in Europe, and the Ambassador himself will be determined and make every effort to fulfill his role as a bridge, contributing to promoting and bringing the cooperative relationship between the two countries to a new height, serving the interests of the people of the two countries.
