General Secretary To Lam affirmed that Vietnam always considers Bulgaria an important gateway to develop relations with the EU, and expressed Vietnam's readiness to be a bridge between Bulgaria and Southeast Asian countries.

On the afternoon of November 25, at the Party Central Committee Headquarters, General Secretary To Lam received Bulgarian President Rumen Radev on the occasion of his official visit to Vietnam.
General Secretary To Lam welcomed President Rumen Radev's official visit to Vietnam, in the context of the two countries looking towards the 75th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations in 2025 and congratulated Bulgaria on its many successes in economic development and regional and international integration.
General Secretary To Lam informed President Rumen Radev about Vietnam's great and comprehensive achievements after nearly 40 years of renovation; affirmed Vietnam's foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, peace, friendship, cooperation and development, multilateralization and diversification of foreign relations.
Expressing his appreciation for the support that the Bulgarian Government and people have given to Vietnam over the years, General Secretary To Lam affirmed that Vietnam always attaches importance to maintaining and strengthening relations with traditional friends, including Bulgaria, considering Bulgaria an important gateway to develop relations with the European Union (EU), and expressed Vietnam's readiness to be a bridge between Bulgaria and Southeast Asian countries.
Appreciating the good results of the talks and meetings between the Bulgarian President and Vietnamese leaders and the positive developments in the Vietnam-Bulgaria relationship, General Secretary To Lam discussed with President Rumen Radev a number of major directions and measures to promote the traditional friendship between the two countries to a new height, strengthen comprehensive cooperation, especially in areas where Bulgaria has strengths and Vietnam has needs such as agriculture, industry, electronics, information technology, artificial intelligence, space research, etc.

President Rumen Radev thanked General Secretary To Lam for taking the time to receive the delegation, recalling the deep impression he had during his conversation with General Secretary To Lam during his attendance at the 79th United Nations General Assembly in the United States last September.
The Bulgarian President informed the General Secretary about the good results of his talks with President Luong Cuong, expressed his admiration and congratulated Vietnam on the great and significant achievements in recent years in the cause of renovation, contributing to enhancing the country's potential, position and international prestige; expressed his belief that under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam headed by General Secretary To Lam, the Vietnamese people will continue to achieve even greater achievements, bringing the country into an era of national advancement.
President Rumen Radev affirmed that Bulgaria always treasures the good traditional friendship between the two countries, considers Vietnam as Bulgaria's leading partner in Southeast Asia, and considers cooperation between Bulgarian political parties and the Communist Party of Vietnam an important channel to consolidate and promote bilateral relations.
Sharing the General Secretary's assessment of the positive developments in bilateral relations in recent times, the Bulgarian President expressed his agreement with major measures to promote bilateral relations to become deeper and more effective.
President Rumen Radev respectfully invited General Secretary To Lam to pay an official visit to Bulgaria in 2025, on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
