General Secretary To Lam and Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim shared common views on enhancing economic connectivity towards sustainable development, creating more resources for the new development stage of both countries.

According to VNA special correspondent, at noon on November 21, right after the solemn welcoming ceremony at the Prime Minister's Office, General Secretary To Lam had an official meeting with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim warmly welcomed General Secretary To Lam and his wife, along with the high-ranking delegation of the Party and State of Vietnam, on their official visit to Malaysia; shared his good feelings about President Ho Chi Minh, his admiration for Vietnam's heroic history of fighting for national independence, and his good impressions of the country and people of Vietnam during his previous visits to Vietnam.
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim affirmed that Malaysia has always supported Vietnam, right from the early period of reform, joining the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), as well as in the current development process.
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim congratulated Comrade To Lam on his election as General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, emphasizing that the visit is meaningful and creates a strong driving force to enhance mutual understanding and promote and deepen cooperation between the two countries in the next period.
General Secretary To Lam expressed his pleasure in visiting Malaysia again; thanked the Malaysian Government and people for the warm welcome and the close affection that the Malaysian Government and people and Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim personally gave to the General Secretary and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation; and appreciated the Prime Minister's special affection for President Ho Chi Minh.

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim congratulated Vietnam on its achievements over nearly 40 years of renovation, including important results in the process of socio-economic recovery and development, overcoming the severe consequences of war and difficulties caused by natural disasters.
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim expressed his impression of Vietnam's positive and comprehensive changes, especially in economic development and important industries; he believed that under the leadership of the Party, State of Vietnam and General Secretary To Lam, Vietnam will successfully achieve its development goals.
General Secretary To Lam highly appreciated Malaysia's dynamic development and congratulated Malaysia on its important achievements in various fields in recent years under the leadership of the coalition government headed by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.

The two leaders had in-depth discussions and reached important common perceptions on major directions to promote cooperation in key pillars of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two countries.
General Secretary To Lam and Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim agreed to firmly consolidate political trust; expand and deepen defense and security cooperation; improve the effectiveness of relations through party, state, government and national assembly channels; and increase exchanges between senior leaders of the two countries. The two leaders agreed to direct relevant agencies of the two sides to promptly develop an Action Program to implement the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for the 2025-2030 period.

The two leaders agreed to promote cooperation in developing the Halal industry, encourage businesses of each country to expand investment in the other's market; strengthen cooperation in the fields of science and technology and new productive forces, including green economy, innovation, science and technology, digital transformation, green energy; and increase engagement in other important areas.
General Secretary To Lam welcomed the specific policies and measures proposed by the Malaysian Prime Minister to develop cooperation between the two countries, including the construction of an ASEAN power transmission network and the marine economy.
The two leaders appreciated the two countries' regular coordination and mutual support at multilateral mechanisms, especially at ASEAN and the United Nations (UN), and agreed to expand and deepen coordination on international issues.
General Secretary To Lam congratulated and expressed his belief that Malaysia will assume and successfully fulfill its role as ASEAN Chair in 2025, helping ASEAN effectively respond to challenges and achieve new developments in promoting its central role. General Secretary To Lam affirmed that Vietnam will actively support and coordinate with Malaysia, contributing responsibly to the common work of ASEAN.
General Secretary To Lam and Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim affirmed the importance of maintaining peace, security, stability, safety and freedom of navigation and aviation in the East Sea; peacefully resolving disputes, not threatening or using force, resolving disputes by peaceful means, in accordance with the principles of international law, including the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS 1982), not conducting activities that could escalate tensions, affecting peace and stability in the East Sea.
The two leaders agreed to call for full implementation of the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC), early adoption of an effective and substantive Code of Conduct in the East Sea (COC) in accordance with international law, including the 1982 UNCLOS, and together contribute to promoting positive trends in the East Sea.
The General Secretary respectfully invited the Malaysian Prime Minister to attend the ASEAN Future Forum 2025 to be held in Vietnam.
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim happily accepted the invitation, expressing his desire to learn more about Vietnam's history and visit Dien Bien Phu, a place the Prime Minister has long wanted to visit.

Immediately after the end of the talks, General Secretary To Lam and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim witnessed the exchange of two cooperation documents including: Memorandum of Understanding on enhancing trade promotion cooperation between the Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency and the Malaysia External Trade Development Authority.
Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation on renewable energy between Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam) and Malaysia National Oil and Gas Group (Petronas).
After witnessing the handover ceremony of cooperation documents, General Secretary To Lam and Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim met with the press to inform about the results of the talks./.
