Seminar "Green transformation journey of female enterprises"

The seminar is an opportunity for female entrepreneurs and female entrepreneurs to discuss and share about opportunities, challenges, advantages and difficulties of green transformation of female enterprises.

The seminar was held on the afternoon of October 11, 2024, within the framework of the National Finals of the Competition "Women in Creative Startups and Green Transformation" in 2024.

The main content of the discussion focuses on the main contents: success factors and lessons learned with the participation of experts/speakers who are policy makers, female business owners who have been successful in the green transformation process and women entrepreneurs participating in the National Finals of the Competition; officials of the Women's Union at all levels... This is one of the very meaningful annual specific contents within the framework of implementing the Coordination Program between the Ministry of Planning and Investment; Vietnam Women's Union, period 2024-2027 on supporting women to start businesses, develop businesses and develop the collective economy.

Opening the program, Ms. Trinh Thi Huong, Deputy Director of the Department of Enterprise Development, Ministry of Planning and Investment, introduced basic information about the sustainable development model and emphasized: Female entrepreneurs are an important force. Female enterprises play an important role in implementing the green economic development model. Accompanying the Vietnam Women's Union in activities to support women's start-ups in general, especially in the series of events of the National Finals of the "Women's Creative Start-ups and Green Transformation" Competition in 2024, the Department of Enterprise Development, Ministry of Planning and Investment hopes to provide knowledge and experience for female entrepreneurs and women start-ups; at the same time, implement cooperation programs to turn challenges into new competitive opportunities for women-owned businesses.

The representative of the Department of Enterprise Development also committed to continue cooperation in the next phase to promote capacity building activities for women in business, green transformation, focusing on building an ecosystem for women's businesses to operate sustainably.

Green transformation is a big opportunity for women entrepreneurs

Within the framework of the program, delegates listened to guests share at the Roundtable Discussion "Stories of female businesses transforming green: Success factors, lessons, opportunities, challenges".

The guests participating in the roundtable discussion include: Ms. Tran Thu Phuong, Vice Chairwoman of the Board of Directors, General Director of HHP Global Joint Stock Company, Ms. Nguyen Phuong Lien, Certification Director, Vietnam Cinnamon Production and Export Joint Stock Company - two women-owned enterprises - Top 10 ESG Initiatives Vietnam 2023; Ms. Mai Thi Ngoc Thuy, Director, O-DOOR Vietnam Co., Ltd. - Green transformation women-owned enterprises and Mr. Ly Duc Tai, Director of ITD Technology Development Institute, Deputy Secretary General of Vietnam Greenhouse Gas Partnership Network representing the Consulting Organization, supporting green transformation enterprises.

The guests discussed the following contents: Goals to be achieved and achieved when conducting green transformation; Opportunities, challenges, and lessons learned for businesses when conducting green transformation; Policy approaches and policy proposals to facilitate green transformation for female businesses.

In the journey of development and green transformation for businesses, the guests had to overcome many difficulties and challenges, coming from the leaders' own thinking, from the resources of the business, the limitations when approaching policies... Besides, there are obstacles when participating in the market, supply chain... However, the guests affirmed that sustainable development is an inevitable trend.

Ms. Tran Thu Phuong emphasized: Practicing sustainable development (ESG) is an investment for the future, therefore, businesses need and must dare to pay the cost of practicing sustainable business development and should practice from the smallest things.

For Ms. Mai Thi Ngoc Thuy, sustainable business development is summarized in a short message: "Whatever our family wants, we will do for our customers."

According to Ms. Nguyen Phuong Lien, to develop sustainably in a green economy, businesses need Heart - Mind - Courage, dedication to work, constant learning and courage to step out of the safety zone and do new things.

Mr. Ly Duc Tai affirmed that green transformation is a great opportunity and requires the cooperation of all parties involved.

Representatives of the Department of Enterprise Development, Ministry of Planning and Investment and the Central Committee of the Vietnam Women's Union shared the potential for cooperation and investment to support women in starting businesses and green transformation.

At the second discussion session, representatives of the Department of Enterprise Development, Ministry of Planning and Investment, leaders of the Vietnam Women's Union, and representatives of the USAID IPSC Project shared the potential for cooperation and investment to support women in starting businesses and green transformation. Here, female entrepreneurs and women entrepreneurs shared the difficulties and challenges in searching and connecting to markets and received answers from experts and investment funds.

On this occasion, the Partner Meeting and Connection Program was held, providing an opportunity for women entrepreneurs to approach nearly 30 partner organizations and investors.
