(Fatherland) - On February 5, the People's Committee of Huong Tra Town (Hue City) informed that the unit will organize many unique cultural activities on the occasion of receiving the title of National Intangible Cultural Heritage for the Van Cu vermicelli making profession.
Previously, on December 10, 2024, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism issued Decision No. 3979/QD-BVHTTDL on including the traditional craft of "Van Cu vermicelli making" in the List of National Intangible Cultural Heritage. This is an honor not only for the people of Huong Toan commune, Huong Tra town in particular but also for the people of Hue city in general.
On this occasion, along with the Ceremony to receive the title of National Intangible Cultural Heritage for Van Cu Vermicelli Making Profession, the People's Committee of Huong Tra Town will organize many special cultural activities on February 18 and 19 in Van Cu - Nam Thanh village, Huong Toan commune, Huong Tra Town to promote and honor the unique cultural values of the locality.
"Van Cu vermicelli making" is included in the National Intangible Cultural Heritage List according to Decision No. 3979/QD-BVHTTDL.
Specifically, within the framework of the event, there will be activities such as: Ba Bun worship ceremony - a traditional ritual performed by local people at Ba Bun temple to show gratitude and commemorate the founder of the craft village; Display and introduction of local OCOP specialty products; Vietnamese Bun Heritage Culinary Festival - Van Cu Bun Village, a gathering place for culinary artisans from 3 regions to exchange dishes with regional cultural characteristics made from vermicelli products; Art program "Proud of Van Cu Mud Village Heritage"; Cycling activity to the beloved land of Huong Toan; Journey to discover Van Cu vermicelli making profession for students...
In particular, the ceremony to receive the title of National Intangible Cultural Heritage for the craft of making Van Cu vermicelli will be solemnly held at the communal house of Van Cu village at 9:00 a.m. on February 19.
According to the People's Committee of Huong Tra Town, through the activities organized on this occasion, it will contribute to raising awareness and responsibility of sectors, levels and people in preserving and promoting the value of national cultural heritage. Propagating and introducing Hue cultural values associated with the promotion and promotion of tourism in the locality.
It is known that the traditional craft of producing vermicelli in Van Cu village was formed more than 400 years ago. Over time, the craft of making vermicelli in Van Cu village has affirmed its brand and position in the domestic and foreign consumption markets. Currently, the craft village has attracted more than 100 households to participate in vermicelli production to supply markets, restaurants, eateries, etc., bringing a stable source of income to the people.
